Suspension & comfort
Start with sag, bearing condition and fork service before buying parts to change the bike’s behavior. The right rear spring, a more supportive seat or a carefully chosen lowering link can answer different rider needs.
A rear spring matched to your riding weight helps you achieve the correct sag without relying on excessive preload.
The Kouba CRF2 link lowers the rear to help riders who need an easier reach to the ground. The amount of lowering depends on the model year and setup.
Wider foam provides more seated support, with a cover that uses ballistic nylon around the knee area.
Replace worn oil and dust seals when servicing a leaking fork, and inspect the tubes and bushings while it is apart.
Carburetor & ignition
The CRF250X uses a carburetor. Old fuel, deteriorated seals, blocked passages or changing valve clearance can cause symptoms that jetting alone will not fix. Once the bike is healthy, choose one coordinated jetting approach for its intake, exhaust, elevation and temperature.
Model-specific multi-taper needles and main jets provide a starting point for tuning throttle response across different riding elevations and temperatures.
This kit combines jets, a needle, an accelerator-pump spring and an adjustable fuel screw for a coordinated carburetor setup.
A comprehensive seal kit supports a deeper carburetor rebuild, including mid-body seals and accelerator-pump components often omitted from basic bowl kits.

Exhaust & intake
A clean, properly seated foam filter is essential in dusty riding. For exhaust upgrades, choose the required spark-arrestor and sound configuration, then reassess jetting for the completed setup.

Inspect the chain and both sprockets as a system. Record the current tooth counts before changing gearing, and plan longer loops around actual fuel consumption rather than a fixed mileage promise.
The narrow X-ring design retains lubricant at the chain joints and provides a sealed replacement option for trail use.
A nickel-chromoly front sprocket replaces worn teeth or lets you change the final gearing with a different tooth count.
A lightweight aluminum rear sprocket provides a replacement for worn drive teeth, with selectable gearing options.

Maintenance & engine service
The CRF250X has separate engine and transmission oil compartments. Check and service each using the correct procedure and quantity for your year. An engine oil-filter change does not replace transmission-oil service.

No. The X has its own carbureted off-road platform, engine setup and parts applications. The later RX is fuel injected, and the R is the motocross model. A shared 250 designation does not confirm compatibility.
The CRF250X covered here is carbureted. It uses a Keihin FCR carburetor. Jetting, cleaning and carburetor service are relevant; a fuel-injection ECU from an RX is not an X tuning solution.
The 2017 U.S. stock reference is 80/100-21 front and 100/100-18 rear. Verify the wheels installed on a used bike before ordering tires, tubes or inserts.
The 2017 CRF250X reference is 14 teeth front and 53 rear. More rear teeth or fewer front teeth shorten the gearing. Check chain length, axle adjustment and guide clearance when changing tooth counts.
The 2017 stock reference is a sealed #520 chain with 116 installed links. A 120-link replacement must be sized correctly. Modified sprockets or axle position can change the required length; follow the connecting-link instructions for the chain you buy.

Yes. The 2017 service reference is 0.69L engine oil with filter and 0.67L transmission oil after draining. These go into separate compartments with different level-check procedures. Do not pour the combined quantity into either side.
