Honda CRF Comfort Seat Guide: Standard, Low, Tall or XL?
Compare Seat Concepts complete seats for the CRF300L, CRF300L Rally and CRF450L / CRF450RL. Choose the height, width and cover that fit your riding.
← All CRF's Only Blog ArticlesA better Honda CRF comfort seat starts with the problem you want to solve. Long pavement connections call for seated support. Difficult stops put ground reach first. A cramped riding position may call for more legroom. The right seat balances those needs with how freely you move on the bike.
Softness alone does not settle the decision. Seat shape, foam support, height and cover grip all matter. Here is how to compare the Seat Concepts Comfort options at CRF's Only and choose the correct complete seat for your motorcycle.
Standard, Low, Tall and XL solve different problems
Choose height around your seated position and ground reach, then choose width around your support and movement needs. A taller seat is not automatically more comfortable, and a lower seat is not automatically the best choice for a shorter rider.
| Configuration | Reason to consider it | Tradeoff to check |
|---|---|---|
| Standard Comfort | A broader support area while retaining a standard-height seating position. | Compare the new contour and width with the way you move between seated and standing. |
| Comfort Low | A lower seated position when ground reach is the priority. | Reduced foam thickness can require firmer support. Less seat-to-peg distance also changes knee bend. |
| Comfort Tall | More seat-to-peg room for riders who feel cramped while seated. | The higher position changes ground reach. Extra foam does not guarantee a softer feel. |
| Comfort XL, standard height | A wider main seating area for riders prioritizing longer seated stretches. | Check how the extra width suits your leg reach and movement. XL describes the wider profile here, not a taller seat. |
A Low seat changes your seated position without lowering the chassis. Suspension travel and ground clearance remain as configured. If you are considering a lowering link or LOW rear shock too, treat those as separate changes with their own setup requirements. Our Honda CRF lowering guide covers that decision.
Choose the complete seat for your exact CRF
These are three separate Seat Concepts complete-seat listings. The standard CRF300L seat does not fit the CRF300L Rally; use the dedicated Rally product. Use the separate CRF450L / CRF450RL listing for those models.
| Motorcycle | Choices in the product selector | Details worth knowing | Product link |
|---|---|---|---|
| CRF300L 2021-2027 |
Standard, Low, Tall and standard-height XL. | XL is listed at 12 1/4 inches wide. Use the selected version's height information. Does not fit the Rally. | Shop CRF300L Complete Comfort Seats |
| CRF300L Rally 2021-2027 |
Standard, Low and standard-height XL. | A separate Rally seat assembly. The current Rally selector does not offer Tall; confirm dimensions for your selected version before ordering. | Shop CRF300L Rally Complete Comfort Seats |
| CRF450L / CRF450RL 2019-2027 |
Standard, Low, Tall and standard-height XL. | Low is listed at 1 inch / 25 mm below standard. Check the selected variant for other dimensions; do not transfer the CRF300L's width to this seat. | Shop CRF450L / CRF450RL Complete Comfort Seats |
Height, cover and color combinations vary by application. A listed choice is not a guarantee that every combination is currently in stock. Check the exact selection and order terms on its product page.
Support matters more than how soft the seat feels by hand
Seat Concepts Comfort seats use a wider rider-support area to spread the load across more of the saddle. The design keeps the front relatively narrow so you can move forward and stand. The useful comparison is where you actually sit, not just the seat's widest measurement.
For commuting and long connecting roads, compare the support under your normal seated position. For trail-heavy rides, also consider how easily you slide forward, stand and return to the saddle. Comfort XL deserves a look when seated time dominates; the regular Comfort profile remains worth comparing when frequent movement is a priority.
Match the foam to the rider
Foam needs enough support to keep you from sinking through it. Low-seat construction has less foam available, so a lower seat may feel firmer. Tall adds room, but choosing Tall simply to get more padding can leave you with the wrong riding position.
Check any rider-weight guidance on the exact listing. If you fall outside that guidance or want a different foam feel, contact CRF's Only before ordering to discuss the available options. Provide body weight and riding-gear weight separately so there is no ambiguity about the information being used.
Choose cover traction for the way you move
A Gripper top helps resist sliding. Semi-Grip allows easier repositioning while still providing texture. Consider your riding pants as well as the terrain: the cover you like when standing and moving on trails may feel different during a long seated road section.
Read the top and side materials separately. Black Carbon sides describe a carbon-look vinyl texture, not a carbon-fiber seat pan. Not every cover is offered with every height. For the fuller material comparison, see our Seat Concepts seats for Honda CRF motorcycles guide.
A complete seat avoids the upholstery work
The three featured products are complete seat assemblies: seat pan, foam and cover arrive assembled. You replace the original seat as a unit and can retain it for future use.
A foam-and-cover kit is a different purchase. It requires removing the original upholstery and fitting the replacement foam and cover to the existing pan. Cover positioning, tension and stapling are part of that job.
For a complete seat, follow the supplied installation instructions and the motorcycle's seat-removal procedure. Confirm the mounting tabs and fasteners engage correctly, and check that the seat is secure before riding. Do not assume hardware or installation details are identical across CRF models.
Confirm the configuration before placing the order
- Bike: exact model and year, including Rally or LS designation where applicable.
- Main concern: seated support, ground reach, legroom or a balance of those needs.
- Configuration: height, Comfort or XL profile, top material, side material and color.
- Rider information: weight, riding gear and typical seated versus standing use.
- Timing and terms: confirm whether the selected configuration is in stock or requires a build, along with its current shipping charges and order conditions.

Honda CRF comfort-seat FAQs
Will a comfort seat lower my motorcycle?
A Low version lowers your seated position. It does not lower the chassis or change suspension travel. Standard and Tall choices serve different height priorities, so check the selected version.
Is Comfort XL taller than the standard seat?
The XL choices in the three featured listings are standard-height seats with a wider support area. XL does not mean Tall. Width can still influence ground reach.
Will the CRF300L seat fit the CRF300L Rally?
No. The featured standard-CRF300L product specifically excludes the Rally. Order through the dedicated CRF300L Rally seat listing.
Is Tall available for the CRF300L Rally?
The current CRF's Only Rally Comfort selector offers Standard, Low and XL at standard height. Tall is offered on the featured CRF300L and CRF450L / CRF450RL listings, but should not be assumed for the Rally.
Are Seat Concepts covers waterproof?
Standard vinyl covers are water-resistant, but their seams are not waterproof. Protect the seat from prolonged soaking and follow Seat Concepts' care instructions. Do not assume the featured Comfort cover has the seam treatment used on the separate Element range.
Can I install a complete seat without recovering my original pan?
Yes. These complete seats arrive assembled, so no cover fitting or stapling is required. Follow the application-specific installation instructions and verify secure mounting before use.
