The stock seat on many Honda CRF models works well when you are standing and riding aggressively, but long stretches in the saddle can quickly expose its limitations. Seat Concepts takes a different approach by combining proprietary molded foam with a wider seating area designed to better support the rider without making the front of the seat unnecessarily wide.

Why Are Seat Concepts Seats More Comfortable?
It's More Than Just Softer Foam
Seat comfort is not simply a matter of making the foam softer. A seat that is too soft can allow the rider to sink through the foam and create pressure points against the seat pan. Seat Concepts combines its proprietary molded foam with a redesigned seat shape to provide both cushioning and support.
Proprietary Molded Foam
Seat Concepts uses its own foam formulation designed to provide a more plush and active feel than many OEM seats while still supplying the support needed for longer periods in the saddle.
The goal is not to make the softest seat possible. The goal is to properly support the rider.
A Wider Support Area
The shape of a Seat Concepts Comfort seat is one of the biggest differences compared with a typical stock Honda CRF seat.
The front of the seat remains relatively narrow so the rider's legs are not unnecessarily spread apart while standing, moving forward on the motorcycle or putting a foot down. Moving toward the middle and rear of the seat, the Comfort shape becomes wider and distributes the rider's weight over a larger surface area.
This increased support area can reduce concentrated pressure points and is especially beneficial for:

Choosing the Correct Seat Height
Seat Concepts offers Low, Standard and Tall configurations on many Honda CRF applications. The correct choice should primarily be based on rider ergonomics and your desired reach to the ground.

Low Seat
A Low seat is primarily an ergonomic modification for riders who need additional reach to the ground. Because material has to be removed to lower the seating position, Seat Concepts may use a firmer foam density to prevent the rider from bottoming through the reduced foam thickness.
On several CRF applications, including the CRF300L, Seat Concepts' Comfort Low option is approximately 1 inch lower than stock height.
Standard Height
For riders who are comfortable with the factory Honda seat height, Standard should usually be the starting point. It maintains approximately the stock seating position while taking advantage of Seat Concepts' wider Comfort shape and proprietary foam.
Tall Seat
Tall seats are designed primarily for taller riders. Raising the seating position can reduce knee bend and create a more comfortable rider triangle for riders with longer legs.
A Tall seat should not be selected simply because it contains more foam. Seat Concepts recommends choosing the seat height that fits the rider and allowing the foam and seat shape to provide the comfort.

Which Seat Width Should You Choose?
Many Honda CRF applications offer the traditional Seat Concepts Comfort profile, while selected models also offer a wider Comfort XL.

Comfort
The traditional Comfort seat maintains a relatively narrow shape toward the fuel tank and widens farther back where the rider spends most of the time while seated. This provides substantially more support than a narrow race-style seat without creating unnecessary width while riding aggressively.
Comfort XL
Comfort XL increases the width of the main seating area even further. More surface area allows the rider's weight to be distributed across a larger portion of the seat and is a great option for riders who spend a high percentage of their ride seated.
Seat Concepts Cover Materials Explained
Seat Concepts offers several different seat-cover materials. The biggest difference is not simply appearance — it is how much grip the material provides and how easily the rider can move around on the motorcycle.

Carbon Fiber Vinyl
The term "Carbon Fiber" refers to the embossed appearance of the vinyl. It is not actual carbon fiber.
This semi-smooth material provides relatively little grip and allows the rider to move freely around the motorcycle. For that reason, Black Carbon is frequently used on the side panels of Seat Concepts Comfort seats.
Best for: Riders who want easy movement and a clean OEM/performance appearance.
Semi-Grip / Low-Slip
Semi-Grip uses a textured, beaded cross-weave surface. It provides more traction than Carbon Fiber Vinyl while still allowing the rider to reposition on the seat.
For many CRF dual-sport riders, Semi-Grip offers the best compromise between comfort, traction and mobility.
Best for: Dual-sport riding, commuting, adventure riding and riders who use both motorcycle gear and casual riding clothing.
Sandpaper Gripper
Seat Concepts' Sandpaper Gripper is a high-grip material with a texture similar to low-grit sandpaper. CRF's Only product options may simply refer to this as a "Gripper Top."
The aggressive surface helps keep the rider planted under acceleration and while riding technical terrain.
Best for: Aggressive off-road riding and riders using purpose-built motorcycle riding pants.
Wire Gripper
Wire Gripper uses a pronounced mechanical texture that provides a high level of grip and limits unwanted movement in a wide range of riding conditions.
Wire material is also available in a larger selection of colors on certain Seat Concepts applications.
Best for: Performance-oriented riding and riders wanting maximum grip with additional styling options.
Most versatile: Semi-Grip

Seat Concepts Colors
Seat Concepts combines different top and side materials to create seats that complement Honda's factory CRF styling.

The Comfort seat is the most common Seat Concepts option for Honda CRF motorcycles, but CRF's Only also offers the Seat Concepts Element seat for selected applications such as the CRF450L/RL.

Complete Seat
A Seat Concepts Complete Seat arrives fully assembled with the Seat Concepts foam, selected cover and a Seat Concepts replacement seat pan.
Simply remove your stock Honda seat and install the new complete seat.

Foam & Cover Kit
A Foam & Cover Kit includes the Seat Concepts foam and cover but does not include a seat pan. The original OEM Honda seat must be disassembled and the new foam and cover installed on the factory pan.
Many of the most popular Seat Concepts products sold by CRF's Only are complete seats, making installation especially simple.
Water Resistance and Wet-Weather Riding
Standard Seat Concepts covers use water-resistant vinyl, but standard cover seams should not be considered completely waterproof. Seat Concepts protects the foam with a thin plastic moisture barrier, and complete seats have this protection installed during assembly.
For riders who routinely encounter heavy rain, mud, snow or wet off-road conditions, the Seat Concepts Element seat provides additional protection with internally sealed seams and an additional moisture barrier.
How to Clean a Seat Concepts Seat
Seat Concepts recommends simple cleaning methods that protect the cover material and seams.
Recommended:
- Mild detergent
- Warm water
- Soft scrub brush
- Air drying
Avoid:
- Pressure washing directly against the seat
- Harsh chemicals
- Solvents
- Submerging or soaking the seat
- Heat guns or other excessive heat for drying

Seat Concepts Comfort seats for the latest CRF450R/RX platform maintain a narrow, race-friendly front profile while widening through the seating area. The standard Comfort version is approximately 7.5 inches / 190 mm wide on this platform.
CRF250R / CRF250RX
The current CRF250R/RX Comfort Seat retains approximately OEM seat height while increasing the main seating area to approximately 7.5 inches / 190 mm wide.
CRF250F
CRF's Only also carries a Seat Concepts Complete Comfort Seat for the CRF250F, providing a wider seating platform while retaining a race-friendly front profile.

Are Seat Concepts seats more comfortable than stock?
The Comfort design combines Seat Concepts' proprietary molded foam with a wider load-bearing seating area. Rather than concentrating the rider's weight over the narrow center of the stock seat, the wider shape distributes pressure over a larger area while keeping the front portion narrow enough for normal rider movement.
Is a Seat Concepts Low seat less comfortable?
It can be. A Low seat requires some foam material to be removed to reduce seat height. Seat Concepts may compensate by using firmer foam to prevent the rider from bottoming against the seat pan. Choose a Low seat primarily when additional reach to the ground is needed.
Is a Tall Seat Concepts seat more comfortable?
Not necessarily. Tall seats are designed primarily for longer-legged riders and improved ergonomics. Seat Concepts recommends choosing the correct height for the rider rather than selecting Tall simply to get additional foam.
What is the difference between Comfort and Comfort XL?
The standard Comfort seat provides significantly more seating support than the stock-style narrow seat while still allowing excellent rider movement. Comfort XL increases the width of the seated area even further and is intended for riders who place the highest priority on long-distance seated comfort.
What is the difference between Semi-Grip and Gripper?
Semi-Grip provides a moderate amount of traction but still lets the rider move around easily. The Sandpaper-style Gripper provides considerably more traction and is designed to limit sliding during aggressive riding.
What does Black Carbon mean?
Black Carbon refers to a vinyl cover material embossed with a carbon-fiber-style texture. It is not actual carbon fiber. The material provides relatively low grip and is commonly used on seat side panels.
