CRF300L Rally Accessories Guide: Protection, Cockpit & Comfort

Choose protection, controls, seats, luggage and suspension that work together—and fit the way you ride your Rally.

The best CRF300L Rally accessories solve a problem you actually feel on the bike: exposed components on rocky trails, cramped controls, seat discomfort or suspension that struggles with your riding load. A useful build starts with those priorities, then accounts for how the parts fit together.

At CRF's Only, we help Rally riders connect those decisions. A handguard needs to clear the windscreen. A radiator guard needs room around the fuel tank. A luggage setup needs secure mounting, exhaust clearance and suspension suited to the load. Use this guide to plan those combinations before ordering.

Choose your first upgrades around your riding

A practical starting point for your Rally build
Your riding Start here Plan alongside it
Commuting and day rides Comfortable controls, seat fit and secure navigation Device vibration guidance, weather protection and clear instrument visibility
Rocky trails and technical riding Underside protection, radiator protection and reinforced handguards Boot support, control clearance and suspension suited to rider weight and terrain
Longer trips with luggage Seat comfort, secure luggage mounting and suspension setup Loaded handling, exhaust clearance and access to tools and service points

If handling is already the problem, move suspension ahead of convenience accessories. If the cockpit works well, keep it simple and spend where the bike needs help.

Protect the Rally where your routes demand it

Flatland Racing skid plate

The CRF300L Rally Flatland Racing Skid Plate, part 24-94, adds aluminum underside protection with side coverage, clean-out slots and oil-drain access. Mounting hardware is included. Choose the Rally application; a standard CRF300L listing is not a substitute.

Before fitting it, check any crash bars or other guards already using nearby mounting space. Two parts can each fit a stock motorcycle yet interfere when combined. Follow the installation instructions and confirm clearance around the shifter and engine.

Flatland Racing radiator guard

The CRF300L Rally Flatland Racing Radiator Guard, part 12-78, adds aluminum protection and support around the radiator. The listing warns that aftermarket fuel tanks may be incompatible. Tell us which tank you have before combining these upgrades.

Keep hoses clear, preserve airflow and inspect for contact after assembly. A radiator guard and a skid plate address different exposed areas; neither replaces the other.

Zeta Adventure Armor handguards

The Rally Zeta Adventure Armor Handguards use aluminum bars and application-specific mounting hardware compatible with the stock handlebar. Zeta designed this application around the Rally's screen and instrument area.

Plastic protectors are selected separately. Choose one compatible shield style with your handguard bars. If you want integrated flashers, check the XC options; X3 protectors do not accept the integrated flashers. After installation, check full lever movement, throttle return and steering clearance.

Make the cockpit work seated and standing

Set up the bike while wearing your normal gloves and boots. Check handlebar reach, lever position and access to the switches while seated, then stand on the pegs and repeat. Adjust within the manufacturer's limits and change one thing at a time.

A different bar bend or riser can change cable and brake-line requirements. Confirm clamp diameter, usable control space and line routing before ordering. At full steering lock in both directions, the throttle must return freely and cables must not pull tight.

For a lever upgrade, the Zeta Pivot CP Clutch & Brake Lever Set offers folding levers and adjustable reach. Zeta specifies that this set cannot be used with the Rally's original handguards. Confirm a compatible handguard arrangement before ordering, then verify clutch-switch and brake-light operation after adjustment.

Plan navigation around the complete cockpit

Choose the phone or GPS first, then a holder and mount designed for that device and mounting location. Check the clamp diameter and the support's intended use; nearby windscreen hardware is not automatically a suitable device mount.

One mounting option is the RAM Torque Handlebar Mounting Base for rails from 3/4 to 1 inch in diameter. It provides a 1-inch B-size ball; a compatible arm and device holder are separate. Measure your intended clamping location rather than assuming every crossbar or handlebar section fits.

  • Keep the instrument display, warning lights and forward view visible.
  • Check clearance with the windscreen, handguards and a loaded tank bag.
  • Route charging leads away from steering movement and controls.
  • Use positive device retention and check the device maker's motorcycle-vibration guidance.

A tether helps retain a device; it does not protect a phone camera from vibration. Apple cautions that motorcycle vibration can affect certain iPhone camera systems. Review Apple's guidance and the mount maker's instructions before choosing your setup.

Evaluate windscreen height with your riding position

A taller screen does not automatically mean less helmet buffeting. Rider height, posture, helmet and screen shape all matter. Check your view over or through the screen, then confirm clearance with the bars and navigation equipment. Make one change before judging the next.

Improve comfort at the seat and footpegs

Seat Concepts Complete Comfort Seat

The CRF300L Rally Seat Concepts Complete Comfort Seat is a ready-to-install assembly with a wider rider seating area. The Rally listing offers Standard, Low and XL-width choices; the XL option retains stock seat height.

Choose the shape around your inseam, time in the saddle and need to move on the bike. A wider seat can distribute pressure differently while also affecting how your legs reach the ground. A lower seat changes the seated relationship to the pegs and bars. This Rally seat does not fit the standard CRF300L.

Zeta Adventure footpegs

The Rally Zeta Adventure Footpeg Set includes left and right assemblies with aluminum platforms, stainless-steel blades and rubber covers. These contact-surface options let you consider boot grip and comfort for your mix of pavement and dirt.

After fitting pegs, check access to the rear brake and shifter in your riding boots, along with peg folding and return. Do not assume a wider platform lowers the peg position.

Plan luggage and suspension together

Start with a secure rear platform

The CRF's Only CRF300L Rally Rear Rack provides a mounting platform for compatible luggage and includes installation hardware. It accepts a RotopaX mount, but the mount and container are separate purchases. The rack listing recommends a one-gallon container and does not recommend larger sizes.

A rear rack is not automatically a side-pannier support. Confirm the requirements of your exact bag system, observe the motorcycle and accessory load limits, and check loaded bags for movement toward the exhaust, tire or chain. Keep heavy items low and close to the bike where the luggage design allows.

Match the suspension to the load you actually carry

Tools, riding gear and luggage change the job the suspension must do. Set sag using the suspension supplier's procedure and assess both ends of the bike. Preload adjusts sag within the available range; it does not change the spring's rate.

Two Rally-specific options at CRF's Only address the fork and shock together:

Follow each product's weight-entry instructions. The Race Tech Pro order form asks for rider weight without gear, skill level and riding mix. Tell us about gear, tools and luggage separately so that useful load information is not lost. These packages involve internal fork work; plan qualified suspension installation and setup.

Treat exhaust and luggage clearance as one decision

An exhaust change affects the space beside the right side panel and luggage. Check the exact system's installation instructions, heat shield and mounting arrangement before combining it with bags or racks. A heat shield does not make it safe for luggage or straps to rest against the exhaust.

For a competition build, compare the Rally listings for the Yoshimura RS-12 full system and RS-12 slip-on. The full system replaces the header; the slip-on retains the stock header. Both include a carbon-fiber heat shield.

Confirm fueling requirements for your exact year, intake and exhaust combination before installation. Advice for an ECU or exhaust on another CRF model does not establish the correct setup for the CRF300L Rally.

Check the complete setup before riding

  1. Confirm fitment: model, year, bar type, fuel tank and existing guards.
  2. Check controls: full steering movement, free throttle return, lever travel and brake operation.
  3. Check riding position: seated reach, standing posture, boot access to pedals and ground reach.
  4. Load the luggage: secure it as you will ride and check clearance around moving and hot components.
  5. Finish setup: follow specified torque and adjustment procedures, take a short shakedown ride and inspect the installation afterward.

CRF300L Rally accessories FAQ

Which accessories should I buy first?

Start with the problem most likely to limit your ride. Rocky terrain favors protection and secure controls. Longer rides favor seat fit and luggage planning. If the loaded bike handles poorly, prioritize suspension setup.

Do standard CRF300L accessories fit the Rally?

Some do, but fitment is product-specific. The Rally Seat Concepts seat and the Flatland protection products linked here have Rally applications. Check the exact listing rather than assuming shared fitment.

Do the Zeta Adventure Armor handguards include plastic shields?

The plastic protectors are separate options. Select a compatible shield style when ordering. X3 protectors do not accept the optional integrated flashers.

Will adjusting sag give me more legroom?

No. Sag affects ride height and chassis attitude, not seat-to-footpeg distance. Evaluate seat shape and peg position if seated legroom is the issue.

Does a rear rack include everything needed for fuel or panniers?

No. The CRF's Only rack linked here does not include the RotopaX mount or container, and a rear platform alone does not establish side-pannier compatibility. Check the complete luggage system.

Can I use the listed Yoshimura RS-12 exhaust on public roads?

No. These Race Series systems are designated for closed-course competition only. Their spark arrestors and heat shields do not make them approved for public-road use.
