CRF300L Comfort Seat Upgrade: Seat Concepts Options Compared
Standard, Low, Tall or XL? Compare the CRF300L dimensions, cover choices and complete-seat construction before choosing your upgrade.
← All CRF's Only Blog ArticlesA CRF300L comfort seat upgrade makes the most sense when you can name what you want to improve: support on long road sections, reach to the ground or room between the seat and footpegs. If your stock seat already suits your rides, keep it. If it regularly distracts you from the ride, a different shape and seating position are worth comparing.
The Seat Concepts Complete Comfort Seat for the Honda CRF300L is an assembled replacement with its own pan, foam and cover. CRF's Only offers Standard, Low, Tall and standard-height XL choices for the standard CRF300L, model years 2021-2027. Comfort varies by rider, but the differences between these configurations are specific enough to make an informed choice.
CRF300L Seat Concepts dimensions: all four choices
The table below uses Seat Concepts' published configuration data for its CRF300L Comfort seat family, 23-008. Width changes between versions; Low and Tall are not simply the Standard seat moved up or down.
| Version | Height relative to the OEM seat | Listed width | Main priority |
|---|---|---|---|
| Standard Comfort | Same height | 10 3/4 in / 273 mm | More support at a familiar seating height. |
| Comfort Low | 7/8 in / 22 mm lower | 11 in / 279 mm | A lower seated position. |
| Comfort Tall | 1 in / 25.4 mm higher | 10 in / 254 mm | More seated legroom. |
| Comfort XL Standard | Same height | 12 1/4 in / 311 mm | A wider support area for extended seated riding. |

The XL is 1 1/2 inches wider than the Standard Comfort in the published specifications while retaining standard height. The Low version is slightly wider than Standard, even though it sits lower. That is why seat height alone cannot tell you how a rider will reach the ground.

Which version fits your CRF300L riding?
Standard Comfort: start here if stock height works
Standard is a useful starting point when you want better seated support without intentionally raising or lowering your position. Seat Concepts' Comfort shape keeps the front relatively narrow and widens toward the main seating area, spreading support where you spend time seated.
For a mix of commuting, pavement connections and trail riding, compare how that shape suits both your normal seated position and your movement forward on the bike.
Comfort Low: choose it for reach
Low reduces the published seat height by 7/8 inch. It also reduces the distance between the seat and footpegs, which changes knee bend. Less foam thickness can require firmer support, so choose Low for the position you need rather than assuming it will feel softer.
A Low seat does not lower the chassis, reduce suspension travel or change ground clearance. If you are also considering a lowering link or LOW shock, review those changes separately in our Honda CRF lowering guide.
Comfort Tall: choose it for seated legroom
Tall raises the seating position by 1 inch and increases seat-to-peg room. That can suit a rider who feels cramped while seated, provided the higher position still works at stops. It is the narrowest of these four published Comfort configurations, so Tall should not be confused with XL.
Comfort XL: choose it for a broader seated platform
XL keeps standard height and expands the support area. It is worth comparing for longer road sections, commuting and travel with substantial seated time. Also consider how the wider shape suits your leg reach and the way you transition between sitting and standing.
If you are comparing seats across several Honda models, our Seat Concepts guide explains the broader height, material and cover choices.
Choose the top material for the way you move
The CRF300L listing offers these cover combinations. Read them as side material / top material:
- Black Carbon sides / Black Gripper top.
- Black Carbon sides / Black Semi-Grip top.
- Red Semi-Grip sides / Black Semi-Grip top.
- Red Semi-Grip sides / Red Semi-Grip top.
A Gripper top helps resist sliding; Semi-Grip allows easier repositioning while providing texture. Consider the riding pants you use and how frequently you move forward or back. Black Carbon describes the vinyl's appearance, not a carbon-fiber seat pan.
Foam support matters too. Check the rider guidance on the listing and discuss your body weight, gear and preferred feel with us before ordering if you need help choosing. A softer feel is not automatically more supportive, and a different foam specification should be confirmed before the order is placed.
Complete seat, replacement cover and foam kit are different purchases
The featured CRF300L product is a complete seat. Its pan, foam and selected cover arrive assembled. You replace the original seat as a unit and can keep the stock assembly.
A replacement cover changes the upholstery while retaining the existing foam and pan. A foam-and-cover kit replaces both upholstery and foam but uses the existing pan. Those jobs involve fitting and securing the cover; a cover-only change does not create the wider Comfort foam profile.
These distinctions explain the buying formats. The product linked in this article is the complete assembly, so you do not need to strip, recover or staple your original seat.
Confirm the bike and configuration before ordering
This guide covers the standard Honda CRF300L, 2021-2027. The CRF300L Rally has a separate Seat Concepts complete seat; the standard-L seat explicitly excludes the Rally. Seat Concepts also lists CRF300LS compatibility. For a factory-lowered CRF300LS, contact us to confirm your exact year, selected configuration and how its height compares with your original seat.
For installation, follow the supplied seat instructions and the Honda seat-removal procedure for your bike. Confirm the mounting tabs and fasteners engage correctly, check that the seat is secure and follow the applicable torque specifications. A complete assembly avoids upholstery work; it still needs correct mounting.
A seat addresses the rider's contact with the saddle. For rough-ground behavior, check suspension condition and setup as well. Our CRF300L suspension setup guide and CRF300L Rider Guide help you plan the rest of the bike.
CRF300L comfort-seat FAQs
How much lower is the Seat Concepts CRF300L Low seat?
Seat Concepts publishes a 7/8-inch / 22 mm reduction for this CRF300L configuration. CRF's Only describes the Low option as approximately 1 inch lower. Width, rider proportions and suspension sag still influence ground reach.
Is the CRF300L XL seat taller?
No. The featured XL version retains standard height and has a published width of 12 1/4 inches. Tall is a separate configuration, listed at 1 inch above OEM height.
Will this CRF300L seat fit the Rally?
No. Use the dedicated Rally seat listing. The two models' seats are not interchangeable through the product featured here.
Do I need my stock seat pan for this product?
No. This is the complete assembly with a replacement pan, foam and cover already fitted. A foam-and-cover kit is a different format.
Is a Gripper top automatically better than Semi-Grip?
Choose by how much traction you want against your riding pants. Gripper gives more hold; Semi-Grip makes repositioning easier. Both should be considered alongside your riding style and selected seat shape.
Are the standard Comfort covers waterproof?
The vinyl is water-resistant, but standard seams are not waterproof. Protect the seat from prolonged soaking and follow Seat Concepts' care guidance.
