A broken lever can turn a good trail ride into a difficult trip back. A properly fitted Honda CRF handguard upgrade adds coverage around your hands and controls, but the mounting arrangement matters as much as the aluminum guard itself.

CRF's Only offers four useful starting points: Zeta Armor Bend, Zeta Pro Armor, and dedicated Zeta Adventure Armor listings for the CRF300L and CRF300L Rally. The right choice depends on your handlebars, mounting space and the protection you want to add.

Which Zeta handguards fit your build?

Choose the mounting system before choosing the color
Option Good starting point for Mounting detail Order separately or select
Zeta Armor Bend Handguards Compatible full-size handlebars with a conventional clamp-and-bar-end arrangement Select 7/8-inch or 1-1/8-inch bar mounts; standard mounting hardware is included. Optional XC shields and integrated flashers
Zeta Pro Armor Hand Guards A build needing configurable inner mounts and replaceable guard bumpers Pro bar-end adapters and bumpers are included; compatible inner mounts are required separately. Mount kit, optional XC shields and flashers
CRF300L Adventure Armor Handguards 2021–2027 CRF300L owners, including those retaining stock handlebars Model-specific clamps and special bar-end hardware are included. Optional XC or X3 shields; XC flashers if wanted
CRF300L Rally Adventure Armor Handguards 2021–2027 CRF300L Rally owners, including those retaining stock handlebars Dedicated hardware and a design shaped around the screen and instrument area. Optional XC or X3 shields; XC flashers if wanted

All four featured options use aluminum wraparound guards. Their two-point mounting adds support around the lever area. Open-end deflectors are another handguard style, generally focused on roost, brush and wind coverage without the same bar-end attachment. Neither style guarantees freedom from injury or crash damage.

Zeta Armor Bend: choose the correct bar size

The Zeta Armor Bend Handguards use A7009-T6 aluminum with a curved, drop-down shape near the bar ends. The listing offers mounting choices for 7/8-inch and 1-1/8-inch handlebars, along with optional XC plastic protectors.

This is a configurable full-size-handlebar option. Check the clamp size, bar-end opening and space around the crossbar and controls. Outer handlebar diameter and the inside diameter at the bar end are different measurements; both can matter.

For the CRF300L, this Armor Bend listing requires aftermarket handlebars. If you want to keep the stock bars, use the dedicated Adventure Armor application instead. A model-specific kit and a general handlebar kit solve the mounting problem differently.

The standard kit includes mounting hardware and expanding bar-end adapters. Optional bar-end plugs are a separate accessory, not an M6-to-M8 thread-conversion kit.

Zeta Pro Armor: build the mounting arrangement you need

The Zeta Pro Armor Hand Guards add replaceable plastic end bumpers and longer bar-end adapters. The guard-to-adapter connection is designed to resist rotation. These features make the Pro worth comparing when you want replaceable wear parts and more inner-mount choices.

  • Swivel handlebar mounts: select the correct size for your handlebars and check available clamp space.
  • Front or side triple-clamp mounts: match the mount to the orientation and application of the upper triple-clamp pinch bolts.
  • CRF450L / CRF450RL side mount: the listing offers ZE71-1823 with the application-specific pinch-bolt lengths.

The listing does not recommend front or side triple-clamp mounts with bar risers because the changed geometry can create installation problems. Stock steel bars may also require a different bar-end adapter. Confirm those details before selecting a mount.

Like the Armor Bend listing, this Pro Armor listing directs CRF300L owners to an aftermarket-bar setup. The dedicated Adventure kits below are the stock-handlebar starting point.

Adventure Armor: the CRF300L and Rally stock-bar options

Choose the CRF300L Adventure Armor listing or the CRF300L Rally Adventure Armor listing for your bike. Both offer ZE72-6051 in black and ZE72-6052 in titanium color, with dedicated clamps and special bar-end components for the listed stock and Zeta handlebar applications.

The clamps are shaped to accommodate the controls and wiring. On the Rally, the guard shape also accounts for the screen and instrument area. Recheck those clearances if your bike has risers, different bars, a taller screen or navigation equipment.

The stock CRF300L and Rally use different installation routes

  • CRF300L stock bars: Zeta's instructions use the original threaded bar ends with the supplied M6 hardware and dedicated components. Grip and throttle-tube ends need the preparation specified in the instructions, or suitable open-end replacements.
  • CRF300L Rally stock bars: the instructions call for removal of the original handguards and mounting stays, bar-end parts and inner weights. The kit then uses its supplied steel-bar adapters and matching M8 hardware.

These are different assemblies, not instructions to force an M8 bolt into an M6 thread. Follow the illustrated Zeta installation instructions supplied for the kit and your application. Stock-bar compatibility does not mean every original bar-end component remains in place.

If your handlebars have already been changed, identify their brand, model and bar-end arrangement before ordering. The inclusion of stock and Zeta mounting components does not establish compatibility with every aftermarket handlebar.

Finish the setup with the right shields and flashers

The aluminum guard and the plastic protector are separate components. The guard provides the supporting structure; the protector adds coverage against brush, roost and wind. Plastic shields are optional selections on these listings.

  • XC protectors: accept the optional Zeta integrated LED turn-signal inserts.
  • X3 protectors: offered on the Adventure listings and do not accept the integrated flashers.
  • LED flashers: select them in addition to the compatible XC shields. Ordering flashers alone does not include the shields.

Choose one shield style for the intended setup. If converting the front turn signals, confirm wiring, connectors and the appropriate flasher relay for your motorcycle; the inserts alone do not establish a complete electrical conversion.

When comparing cost, compare the configured package: guards, required mounts, shields and any signal components. A base price can exclude options your build needs.

Color note: “Titanium” is a finish option on these aluminum handguards. It does not mean the guard body is made from titanium.

Get the mounting and throttle clearance right

Before installation, identify the handlebar material, clamp size, internal bar-end arrangement and existing controls. Match bolt diameter, thread pitch and length to the specified assembly. Start threads by hand; resistance is a reason to check the parts, not apply more force.

Use the exact kit instructions for any grip, throttle-tube or bar-end preparation. Do not use a generic drilling, tapping or weight-removal method from a different guard installation. Keep debris out of the throttle assembly and preserve the required moving clearance.

  1. Position both mounting points before final tightening. Check the supplied hardware, spacers and alignment.
  2. Check full lever travel. The clutch and brake levers must operate without contacting the guard.
  3. Check throttle return with the engine off. Open and release it through its normal travel with the bars centered and at both steering locks. It must return freely.
  4. Check the complete cockpit. Look for tight cables, trapped wiring or contact with the tank, windscreen, instruments and navigation equipment.
  5. Tighten to the applicable instructions. Recheck control movement afterward and inspect the mounts after the first ride and any fall.

If tightening the bar-end hardware makes the throttle bind, correct the assembly before riding. A firmly mounted handguard still needs clearance from the rotating throttle tube and grip.
