CRF230M tire-size confirmation: The M tire dimensions shown are provisional. Confirm them against the original tire placard or the CRF230M owner’s manual before ordering. Sprocket and 100-link references are supported by JT’s model applications; the L gearing also matches Honda’s 2009 manual. The plug is specified in the L manual and offered by CRF’s Only for both models. Yuasa confirms the battery application for both. Nominal tire sizes do not replace checks of rim width, tire construction, load/speed rating and clearance. A 120-link replacement chain must be sized to the gearing and axle position.

Carburetor, intake & ignition
A bike that has spent months parked needs diagnosis before tuning. Check fuel condition, battery strength, intake sealing and the carburetor before choosing replacement parts. These are service choices for the original equipment.
This kit supplies repair components and OEM-size jets for rebuilding the stock carburetor. It is sold with a race-use restriction, so contact us about repair parts for a street-ridden bike before ordering.
The Honda replacement element is a direct service choice for the CRF230L original airbox. Renewing a filter that no longer seals or filters properly helps protect the engine.
Use the specified plug as part of scheduled service or when inspection shows replacement is needed. Repeated fouling also calls for a check of the underlying fueling or engine condition.
CRF230L handling & seat reach
These changes solve different problems. Fork damping affects how the front end responds to bumps. A lowering link changes rear ride height. Steering bearings address worn or notchy steering. Set tire pressures and rear sag before deciding what needs attention.
Tunable valves sit above the damping rods in the original CRF230L forks. They provide a way to adjust damping for the rider and terrain during a properly planned fork rebuild.
The Kouba link is listed to lower the rear of the CRF230L by approximately 1-5/8 inches. It suits a rider who needs easier reach to the ground after checking sag and basic setup.
Renew worn steering-head bearings when inspection finds roughness, play or a notch near the straight-ahead position. The kit includes upper and lower bearings and seals.
Front & rear brake service
Inspect pad thickness, rotor condition and caliper operation together. Front and rear pads are different parts, and a fresh set of pads will not repair a sticking caliper or a rotor below its service limit.
CM44 sintered-metal pads are an option for front-brake service. Confirm your model and match the pad shape to the caliper currently installed, especially on a bike with wheel or brake conversions.
This CRF230L rear-pad application uses Braking CM44 sintered-metal material. Inspect the rotor and caliper while replacing the pads and follow the bedding procedure.
A solid, no-hole rear rotor is a specialized choice for an L that spends substantial time in mud. Its design is intended to help reduce abrasive pad wear in those conditions.
Chain, wheels & swingarm
A stiff chain, loose wheel bearing or neglected swingarm pivot deserves attention before adding accessories. Match the chain to the gearing installed and choose a bearing kit for the correct wheel or pivot.
The 120-link VX3 chain is supplied long for sizing to the motorcycle. The stock L and M use a 100-link chain, but verify the length needed if the sprockets have changed. Inspect both sprockets with the chain.
A front-wheel service kit for the L/M application helps address bearing play or roughness found during inspection. Check the axle, spacers and hub while the wheel is removed.
This kit replaces the rear-wheel bearings and seals on the CRF230L application. Service the hub when bearings feel rough or show play rather than relying on adjustment elsewhere to hide the problem.
A swingarm rebuild kit groups the bearings, pins, collars and seals needed for the listed application. It is useful when the pivot has developed play, corrosion or restricted movement.
Protection & controls
For the L, an underside guard can be useful on rocky routes. On either bike, correct lever fit and unobstructed control movement matter every ride. Handguards must work with the handlebars, cables and brake hose already installed.
A formed aluminum skid plate adds protection around vulnerable engine parts on the CRF230L. Its smooth underside helps it pass over trail obstacles without exposed edges catching.
This replacement lever is designed for the original L/M clutch perch. It is a sensible service replacement or spare when the original lever is bent or damaged.
An aluminum bar inside a molded shield provides coverage for hands and levers. The included mounting kit supports 7/8-inch and oversized handlebars, subject to control and bar-end clearance.
Starting, visibility & light luggage
Reliable starting, a clear rearward view and a secure place for tools often matter more than a major engine change. Keep luggage light and check mounting clearance before relying on a universal accessory.
The factory-activated, maintenance-free YTZ7S supplies 12 volts, 6 Ah and 130 CCA. Check the battery condition, charging system and connections before replacing a battery that repeatedly goes flat.
The mirror kit combines a reinforced body, convex lens, 6-inch arm and mounting base. Its adjustable position helps riders find a useful view around shoulders and riding gear.

Oil Service
The CRF230L shares its engine oil with the transmission and wet clutch. It has an oil-strainer screen and centrifugal filter, with separate cleaning requirements. These figures are for routine service of the stock L engine.

The L is the dual-sport with a 21-inch front and 18-inch rear wheel. The M is the supermoto with 17-inch wheels front and rear. Choose wheel, tire and chassis parts for the exact model and the components installed.
The CRF230F is a separate off-road model. Some service items may have an explicit shared application, but the “230” name alone does not confirm fitment. Choose the exact L, M or F application on each product page.
The CRF230L reference is 2.75-21 front and 120/80-18 rear. The CRF230M dimensions shown here—110/70-17 front and 130/70-17 rear—are provisional and need confirmation against the original tire placard or M owner’s manual. The L uses 13T front / 39T rear; the M uses 13T / 38T. The stock chain reference is #520 with 100 installed links for both. The featured D.I.D. VX3 chain supplies 120 links for sizing. A gearing change can alter the required length.
The NGK DPR8EA-9 is the standard plug specified in Honda’s L manual and offered for both L and M in our model-specific product. Check your exact-year manual and any engine changes before installation.
No. These models use carburetors. A repair kit replaces the listed wear items and seals; it is not automatically a performance jetting kit. Confirm the carburetor installed on a used bike before choosing parts.
Begin with an inspection of fuel, carburetor condition, intake sealing, oil history, battery, tires, brakes and controls. Buy parts for the faults you find. A correctly serviced intake, fresh fluids and correctly repaired fuel system are more useful starting points than adding performance parts to an unhealthy engine. The featured carburetor kit currently requires race-use acceptance; contact us for repair parts suited to a street-ridden bike.
The CRF230L uses an oil-strainer screen and centrifugal oil filter. Follow the manual’s cleaning and service procedures; do not order a cartridge filter simply because it fits another Honda CRF. Oil changes and filter-cleaning work are separate tasks.
Only when the exact product application supports it. The L-specific suspension products here remain labeled for the L. Wheel size alone does not establish compatible fork internals, ride height or lowering geometry on an M.
It addresses seat reach by changing rear ride height, but also changes geometry and clearance. First consider suspension condition, load and riding position. Confirm the expected lowering amount and any front-end or sidestand adjustment for your exact model.
Taller gearing reduces engine rpm at a given speed but gives the engine less mechanical advantage against hills, wind and load. It does not add power. Check actual sprocket counts and rear-tire size first, and recheck chain length and adjustment when changing gearing.
Check the rim-width range recommended by the tire maker, tire diameter and clearance to the chain, swingarm, fender and other parts. A wider tire is not automatically a handling improvement. Retain an appropriate load and speed rating for the motorcycle.
Mounting depends on the handlebar, bar ends, clamps and mirror threads already installed. Review what comes in the selected kit, then check throttle return, lever travel and clearance through full steering movement.
Use a mounting arrangement suited to the bike and stay within Honda’s load limits and the luggage maker’s instructions. Keep straps away from the rear wheel and chain, protect the bag from exhaust heat and account for the load when setting tire pressure and suspension.
That recommendation has a model-specific application. If you own an M, choose an explicitly compatible product or contact us with the exact year and installed components before ordering the L version.
Honda’s 2009 U.S. CRF230L manual specifies 1.0 liter / 1.1 U.S. quarts after draining. Use the prescribed level-check procedure. The larger 1.2-liter disassembly capacity is not the routine refill quantity.
