This is a great skid plate! Very well made and fits perfectly. Oil changes can be made without removal. I had to make a very slight trim on it in order to remove the oil filter, but no bid deal.

2008 CRF450X - Nice fit and finish. Simple install, good instructions. Oil filter change no problem, shouldn't have to remove the plate to do this. Good protection for water pump as well.

I have had this for three years now, and mine was the design that did not allow access to the oil filter. But, a dremel and 15 minutes took care of that. But, doing a transmission oil change requires taking off the plate, unless you want oil dripping out of every crack along the bottom of your bike. And, the engine side oil drain pukes into the plate as well. And, the holes on the side 'wings' don't actually allow you to get a socket through and line up to attach / remove plate. Hopefully they have remedied all these issues I have found. But it has done it's job beautifully, and protected my bike on countless occasions.

A must have product for your 450X. It can take a beating and the price isn't bad at all. It was one of the first things I added to a bike. The stock one has to go.

Excellent fit. I ride the deserts and hillz of So. Cal and this plate has stood up to the test so far. Great protection for the money. If your looking to shave weight off your ride though, this might not be the plate for you as it is somewhat "heavy". And you might want to do some fabrication to the left side as it is nearly impossible to change your oil filter without taking off the plate. Otherwise, good buy!

I live in Southern Arizona where this skidplate endures a lot of rock damage and holds up exceptionally well. It is very easy to remove and reinstall when needed. The design of the skid plate is great because it hangs over a little on each side of the frame and the back part of the skid plate covers the rear welds on the bike frame. I highly recommend this skid plate to everyone with a dirt bike.

Good design and looks real strong, however i could not get my oil filter off with it attached. A little carving with the dremel and it works fine.

I recieved this skid plate the other day and had it on in 20 minutes everything mounted fairly well very good product for the money . Alot better than spending more than twice as much for something that does exactly the same but shaped alittle different.

I installed by Flatland Racing skid plate the other night in well under an hour, and I'm certainly not very talented in the mechanical department. Overall the instructions were simple and clear and the fit was good. So far I'm pretty happy with the skid plate for the money. My only concern is that the "wings" on the side don't extend up very far and the water pump seems a bit more exposed than I thought it would be, but I doubt it will be a big deal.

Flatland has modified it's design and you can now remove the oil filter without removing the skid plate.

five stars for the price. The oil filter and cap on my bike are good. I don't have to remove the skid plate to get at them, although at first glance I can see why someone might want to cut a little metal off to gain easier access.

Had no problem with fitting. Followed instruction all was well!!. Well built and good thick material. Will have to do a slight modification to the left side wing so that you can easily remove the oil filter. Manufacturer should re-visit original design and make the necesary changes to the skid plate for future orders. Still pleased with the product.

The fit and finish are very nice on the Flatland Skid plate, instructions were easy to read and the install went well. Looks like it will afford good protection.....the one "flaw" in this otherwise worthy products is the inability to remove the engine oil filter & cover without completly removing the skid plate. This is way too much work as often as we have to change the oil on the 450X. I cut away a portion of the left side so I now have the space needed to remove the oil filer assembly w/o having to R&R the skid plate each time I service the bike......seems Flatland could have forseen this and altered the design to accomodate oil filter removal. My modification took about 30 minutes - and you want to be sure and measure/mark your cut with the skid plate installed - so you only remove what is necessary and leave as much protection remaining as possible.

Sucks, sucks, sucks. Fit and finish is decent but these people didn't have the engineer foresight to allow for the oil filter to be changed without removing it. Very sloppy engineering work on the part of Flatland. Would not recommend.

the fit was good and tight , had no problem with the rear hooks everything lined right up and install takes less than 30 minutes (taking your sweet time) The skid plate is a stout pc. with fair protection wings for the water pump and oil filter (they could be a little bigger though)

The fit was fair lower clamps did not quite snug up flush to the skid plate. I recommend using loctite on all the bolts, but seems ok for the price.
