If you ran your bike without oil there\'s the reason for debris in your engine. These filters have a by-pass valve that allows oil to by-pass the filter if the filter is clogged. This is the same with the paper filters. The logic of course is unfiltered oil is better than no oil. Running your bike out of oil was the source of the debris not the filter.

Alright, so here is the verdict. The cover is cool liking no doubt and it fits my 2006 crf250x but I had to talk to ready racing and have them send me an o-ring for a proper seal. However when I accidentally ran my bike out of oil, when the shop tore the engine apart, they found all kinds of crap this stainless steel filter let in. If you are a racer and get a new bike whenever you want, get it. But to people that actually like to filter things out of the oil, don\'t waste your money on a $56.95 filter cover.

This thing is awesome, however the stock O-ring for the stock cover does not fit the new one, therefor it leaks.... I don\'t know if it was supposed to come with a new one.... but I never got one.

Bryan didn\'t purchase this from CRF\'s Only or this wouldn\'t have happened. Many months ago CompFlow had a manufacturing flaw that resulted in oil leaking when used with the stock O-Ring gasket. The fix was to use a larger O-Ring which CompFlow gladly sent out to customers at no charge. Since then we have not seen any more of this version with this flaw. Bryan call CompFlow and they will take care of this issue. The reason I say this wouldn\'t have happened had he purchased from CRF\'s Only is upon learning of this we returned the defective stock on hand and replaced it with known good stock and personally made arrangements with CompFlow to send the O-Ring out to customers likely affected by this flaw.
