*** CRF's Only Response ***
A small batch of these had a manufacturing tolerance issue causing what Bruce describes. We have fixed this issue and offered Bruce a free replacement.
*** CRF's Only Response ***
The distance between the seating shoulder and the beginning of the threads is too long. It's longer than the OEM, and I've verified this with my dial calipers. So on my crf250x it was completely out of thread when it was turned out 2.5 turns. It's to be expected that there will be some manufacturer variance in the Keihin FCR carb, and that's why not everyone is having this issue. But any fuel screw for this carb should be able to go out 4.0 turns before it falls out in your hand. It's too bad because otherwise it's a well made piece. Lazy prototype engineers I guess. Hey CRF's Only - you should be demanding some accountability from your vender on this.

This fuel screw ROCKS!!!! I ordered the STR fuel screw, but after talking with Ken via email I decided to go with this one. I am very glad I did. When my order arrived I looked at the STR fuel screw I ordered for my riding partner. It is a very good looking piece, but would be a tight fit on my CRF450x. Also the customer service is the best I have ever dealt with. I will be doing all my online business with CRF's ONLY from now on.

Installed screw, set to recommended setting and it hasn't moved at all after some pretty rough riding. Much easier to adjust compared to the stock screw. This one works great.

Much easier to adjust than stock screw. I can now reach in the left side of the bike and turn the fuel screw without having to loosen and rotate the carb. Bike runs great.

I bought this fuel screw at the same time I installed the JD jet kit in my 250X. Infinately better than the stock D-head fuel screw. Precise dialing in of my carb with the new jetting would be nearly impossible without this screw. I can even adjust with one finger while sitting on the bike with it running. I also have had no vibration problems with this screw. A must have!!

High quality product. T handle not the easiest on the fingers. I can't turn it with one hand....maybe because I have small hands/fingers....I don't know. I find it difficult to turn in but easier to turn out, probably because of the spring tension. Hopefully it won't back out like other's have experienced. If I could have gotten a screwdriver on the stock fuel screw, I wouldn't have bought an adjustable fuel screw.

Continued: The JD Tech Support dude had me install it. It fits tight and secure and is well thought out for the 450X. It's easy to get at , but tight enough not to vibrate loose.

The screw worked fine. But for my 2007, the stock fuel screw took a special tool to remove (a D socket). I couldn't find one and had to remove the carberator from the bike. I was able to get it out with a pair of tweezers.
The JD kit for this bike says this fuel screw adjustment is not needed for 2007s.

Regarding the previous review: If the washer, o-ring, and spring are installed and in the correct order the likely culprit is the spring. If you have tightened down the fuel screw all the way it often compresses or collapses the spring as it's a small spring. This eliminates the springs ability to provide the necessary spring tension on the fuel screw. Often you can remove the spring and stretch it back to it's designed length and reinstall with good results.

Pros
The screw is much easier to adjust. I love that about it.
Cons
Even though I installed the o-ring, washer, spring, correctly, the screw backed out both times I have rode my 450x. Thanks to the starter the screw couldn't fall fully out so I still have it, but I need some advise on how to keep it from backing out.
Just so you know I'm not an idiot, I had it out 2 1/4 turns, so the spring had tension. I also tried keeping the screw less turns out, but that resulted in decel popping.
Please tell me their's a fix so I can give it a good rating.

When installing this or any fuel screw make sure you install the spring. The spring provides spring pressure on the treads of the fuel screw to prevent the fuel screw from backing out due to harmonic vibrations. Besides the spring there is also an o-ring gasket and washer. All three of these needs to be installed correctly when installing a fuel screw.

Seemed to be a good fuel screw...then it fell out on the way to track and it is lost somewhere on the interstate. Had to pack up and head home Was set at 2 1/4 turns out. Now waiting for replacement spring, washer, screw, and o-ring from Honda.

Quality product, well machined and finished.
Clear and concise installation instructions.
Much easier to adjust than the standard screw.
Gives good visual feedback for it's set position.
Still a little fiddly to turn,
However to put a easier to use head (i.e a knured knob) on it would increase cost and lose the visual position feedback
