    Recall

    by jjgabe » Tue Mar 03, 2009 10:39 pm

Has anyone had the swing-arm recall installed yet? I am having trouble with the dealer, they say they haven't gotten any in, nor do they have any shipping information. I was just wondering if this was just a shortage here in Hawaii, or if anyone else is having trouble.

I had mine done in January. My dealer told me the same thing. So I called Honda directly and had one the same week I called.

Honda started replacing the RB's swingarms in Nov. and the R's in Jan.. Had my RB done in Jan. The dealer (OTD in Denver) had several in stock. Dropped it off at 6pm and had it done by 10am the next morning. My advice is to call another Honda shop, doesn't have to be were you purchased it, any shop can do recall for free. Hawaii might be more difficult though, if there is just one Honda shop. I almost feel bad for you, but you live in paradise, so I don't. 8)

Thanks for the input. I am at the point where I am going to call Honda and find out what the real story is. There are 2 Honda dealers on the island, and both of them told me that I had to have it done by the dealer that sold me the bike due to the dealers were only being issued enough swing arms to cover the units they sold. My stay in "Paradise is coming to an end this summer I will be moving to Washington. I would like to have this installed before I have to ship the bike over. Thanks again.

That's crazy. What if you moved after you bought a bike? Mine was not done by the dealer that I got it from. In fact, they are fierce competitors. The shop doing the work actually gets paid by Honda to do the recall, so it would be good business to try to take care of as many recalls as possible. The Issued swingarms are only applied to the stock on hand bikes, they can order as many as as needed to take care of the recall. They just need your recall notice that should have been mailed to you. Washington isn't a bad place. Lots of good places to ride.

Our bike was bought third hand and we had no problem getting the recall done, after they got the parts in. Our dealer didn't get the swingarms until Feb. We got ours done today. Just in time for racing season to start. I am not sure what it would take for one of these to fail, especially after all I have done to my bike.

I just picked up an 07 CRF150r for my son. How do I find out what recalls apply to this bike and if they have been done yet?
