The level for a 2005 CRF250R for the engine is 660ml's without filter change and 690ml's with filter change.

The tranny for the R is 800ml's.

The recommended oils are:
Engine - Pro Honda GN4 or HP4/HP4M
Transmission - Pro Honda HP Transmission Oil, GN4,or HP4 without molybdenum
In truth you can use almost any top quality oil. Take a look at this for some ideas of what others are using:

It's for the 450X but you can adjust the volume for your bike.

The volume for the trans in the 2005 CRF 250R is actually 600ml after draining.

You shouldn't have any issues running 800ml, but if racing it might cause some increased resistance.

First time I've know the Clymers to be wrong.

I had read somewhere on this site that the 450x needed to use a full quart of trans fluid so that it wouldn't lock up when ridden at high speeds for long periods. I was wondering if it were the same for the 250r?
