    I Need Help

    by hondacrf450xrider » Thu Feb 01, 2007 8:28 pm

i just put in a uni air filter and i have a 155 main jet and the 45 stock pilot jet. The bike now has slow throttle response and when it does it bogs really bad. I was just wondering if anyone has any suggestions.
    It would be appreciated.

More info please. Did you open the airbox? Did you put on a pipe or remove the baffle? Stock needle?. Its sounds like its suffocating.

The bike is lean from the factory-this is well known. If you increase the jetting you will need to open the airbox and exhaust to realize any power gains and to make it run right. Use the search function here, trying "jetting" etc in the 450x forum there are TONS of info about jetting the bike correctly.

We've done this a zillion times, and if you can follow directions you're in for a big surprise :
    http://crfsonly.com/catalog/product_inf ... ts_id/1093
Follow the directions precisely, including the airbox mod :
    http://crfsonly.com/howto/450x/airbox/c ... airbox.php
Now, don't do the airbox mod until the jet kit is installed, your bike's already too lean.
Print and read this ,it's a great reference :
    http://crfsonly.com/howto/450x/jetting/ ... needle.php
Get this, you'll be glad you did,and makes your final fine tuning a snap :
    http://www.crfsonly.com/catalog/product ... ts_id/1333?
Got an 07 from any state, or an 05 -present California bike ? Get one of these,or you'll be decel popping no matter what you do:
    http://www.crfsonly.com/catalog/product ... ts_id/1044
Get one of these babies too, it cleans things up plumbing wise :
    http://www.crfsonly.com/catalog/product ... ts_id/1044
This is really a great piece, it makes for better airflow and easier maintenance, looks gorgeous, and eliminates the anti-backfire screen :
    http://www.crfsonly.com/catalog/product ... cts_id/846
This makes air cleaner maintenance a LOT easier ,it will save your hair from being yanked out.By you :D :

There. Your bike will gain power top to bottom, yet deliver it smoother, it will run cooler, and start easier, and be easier to work on,no annoying popping.
Almost everyone on this board, the guys who have had these bikes a long time, have everything or almost everything on this list, and for good reason. Doug

155 way too lean, follow Doug's lead on the jetting, he's our un-official but official jetting tech.

Only 3 Quick things and you will have a new bike
1-Get a JD Kit and a fuel screw
    2-Cut up your air box
3-Rip out your baffle, you can leave it out, or cut the discs off and put it back in if you think it`s too loud out.(mines out and i like the sound)
When this is all done you will think you have a new bike, and all of these mods are a sinch to do :D

Or you can fix it all by doing one simple thing...sell it and get an "R"! (Sorry guys, I just had to...I couldn't help it! 8) )

    Thats mean nedirtbikr,mean !
Hey, did I tell you that JD has a jet kit for the 07R,and in it is packaged and recommended a freakin' 190 (!!!!) main jet. Wow.
I was and am very pleased with my 07 R's jetting, I just had to install a 45 pilot to stay under 2 and 1/4 turns open. The 45 has the fuel screw at 1 and 1/2 out.
JD says the new needle, specifically made for the different porting ,smaller exhaust valves etc. is a big improvement all around, so trusting his judgement completely when the weather gets stabilized and a lot warmer you know I'll just have to give it a go. Doug

 Geez...and I thought the 180/48 that I run is big! I'm looking forward to that Twinsburg trip this summer. So far, everything still appears to be a go.

I had to put new O-rings on the KTM pipe. I now have a spooge-free 2T. It seems to run pretty clean. The 200 is definitely NOT a 450, but I'll tell ya...it will lay you on your arse if you're not careful. Once I can really open this thing up, I think it's going to be quite the fun ride.

3+1 more. Remove the back fire screen.
