Please help> gaining oil in the engine

    by HONDA_20 » Tue Jan 20, 2009 11:14 am

I have a 2005 crf450r and i think my tranny oil is somehow leaking into my engine if this is even possible. I use the same oil on both sides but my tranny keeps going low and my engine is gaining oil and coming out my airbox. Please help me try to fix the problem...Thanks!

There's most likely a right crank seal bad. Need to take right crankcase cover off, disassemble clutch to access seal. # 19 in drawing.Image

Good news is you don't need to split cases. :)

Does anyone know if the CRF 250r's have this same exact problem? Is the fix the same? My 250 also seems to be gaining oil on the motor side and losing some on the tranny side.
