    CRF300 Rally 15W-50???

    Hey all,
I recently took my Honda CRF300 Rally for it's first service with an authorised Honda service centre (in Australia).

The service cost $250, which I consider bloody expensive for not much work. But putting that aside, the mechanic used 15w50 Motul Moto Oil rather than GN4 10w30 that I thought he should have used.

I called to ask about it and never got an explanation, but the service invoice says "3000+ 15w15" which I think refers to the mileage.

For anyone with a service manual or experience, do you know what might be going on here?

After the service my fuel consumption on long highway rides has increased almost 20% (3.6L/100km up to 4.2L/100km) and the bike is struggling more at highway speeds.

    Hi Will3,

What weight oil is stated in the owners manual?
Is this engine combined engine and transmission oil?
How many Kms on your bike?

They might be trying to get a bit extra protection for transmission with summer coming on.

Wouldn't think it would account for a 20% increase in consumption maybe a little.
Have you checked your tyre pressures and made sure you don't have a dragging brake.
Have you changed brand or octane of fuel?

Just some things to think about.
