    Need help with clutch issue

    by sendnbend » Tue Sep 21, 2021 6:49 pm

So I’ve been banging my head against the wall for the last we trying to figure out why my clutch is not engaging. I have exhausted YouTube videos and general searches.

Short of it is when I pulled the clutch and it did not engage. When I moved the actuator arm it felt like nothing was happening like it was just hitting some thing. Thinking maybe the plates were just stuck together or who knows why I decided to go ahead and buy a new plates and springs. The basket looks good, no grooves. The plates were probably fine but I want to head and replace them anyway. And when I put it back together it still feels the same way it feels like the actuator arm is just banging against some thing and is not pushing the clutch pack in.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

Welcome to the site !! \:D/

A little background on the issue would help , I am guessing it was working fine , then just stopped working ??? , if so how many hours/miles are on the bike and clutch before this happened ?? , was this something that happened gradually over time ?? , or was it working then while riding it just stopped engaging ???

Was the clutch working fine , then you changed something ???, and it has not worked since ??

Did you notice any metal shavings in the cover ?? , or on the clutch parts ??

Have you verified the spring on the actuator arm is not broken ?? ( I doubt this would stop the arm from engaging , but it may be a sign of another issue with the arm)

Does the actuator arm look "normal" ?? , like there is not any excessive wear on part of it , so when it turns it is to worn to move anything ??

I am guessing you have messed with the cable adjustment and that did nothing correct ?? , did you happen to change clutch cables before this happened and it has not worked since ?? , if so , I am guessing aftermarket cable and it is different length from OEM ... ... Hoping one of these fits your scenario ... :-k
