    clicking sound

    by laguz75 » Sat Jul 13, 2013 10:31 pm

I've been riding my bike with ear plugs in so one day I ride with them out and I'm hearing a clicking sound. it sounds like a relay but what is it doing? the clicking sound is random.

diagnosing sounds over the internet is very difficult. where exactly is the sound coming from?

true. the sound seemed to come from the throttle body area it would click when I accelerate or decelerate the sound was like mores code it was really hot out that day but the crazy thing was it hasn't click sense then. the bike drove fine so maybe a air intake solenoid or the fan solenoid at idle or full throttle no sound in gear but in neutral at high rpms you can hear it. but cant pin point it. if it does it again ill feel around and see if the sound changes.

interesting. have you pulled the air filter and taken a look to see if there's anything lose in the air box or amiss with the throttle body?

nope. I haven't done anything like that the sound hasn't returned yet. I know its a relay or a solenoid cuz of the sound it makes. i'm way past my first oil change when I go to the dealership ill tell them about it plus ask them why drops of coolant is leaking out of the wheep hole on the bottom side of bike. I've seen a close up shot of a bike on the net selling a rack and you can tell there bike was leaking. don't get me wrong this bike is fun to drive and i'm glad I bought it its just that its a new model and anything could go wrong

definitely follow up and let us know what you learn. from the service manual:

"NOTE: A small amount of weeping from the bleed hole is normal."

so, not sure how much you are seeing but if it's more than a 'small amount of weeping' it should be looked into.

the amount of coolant leaking is what the book says have to goto the dealership saturday to get a oil gasket. I just don't like someone working on anything of mine. i'll tell them about the clicking sound it did it again when I was riding I think its the evaporator solenoid. but will keep you posted
