    Tires - ?

    by joevibe » Mon Oct 15, 2012 12:09 am

So Im wondering how these tries will hold up on wet surfaces, wet road particularly... Ive always had more 70/30.. 80/20 and more road bearing tires - and this 50/50 knobby while DOT approved - wondering if anyone can shed a little light onto traction.

Im using this 90% road and to communte - and rain season approaching - Im not looking to slide this bike out every week..

there are many options for more road worthy tires - Kendas, Pilrelli etc - but I still want to keep this trail worthy.

    ideas???

What tires came on the bike?

I don't have experience with the 250L but spent a fair amount of time on a KLR250. I had two sets of wheels and that is the best solution for mixed commuter/trail use.

Do you trail ride in the winter? If not consider just spooning on some street oriented tires for wet commuting. It's free if you do it yourself. (Except for tools.)

If you really need knobbies all year they can be a bit slippery in the wet so you just have to take it easy.

Lots of options. It's a dual sport; it's about compromise.

Check out MEFO tires; I like the Explorers. I have them on my KLR and fine them great for almost all conditions. I'll put them on my 250L when it's time for something new.
