Hey everyone I have a 06 CRF250x. Recently rebuilt. I am running an Athena 280cc kit with high comp piston, hotrods stroker +2mm and hot cam stage 1 cam. Included in the build was new timing chain and auto tensioner both oem. My problem is on the weekend my two intake valves came in contact with my piston. No damage to either. I heard it and shut the bike down instantly. Valves are not bent or damaged and the piston is ok. You can visibly see where the valves and pisyon met each other lightly. Enough to remove the carbon. My friend is a honda tech and has helped me along the way with my build. I am assuming the load on the cam chain over loaded the tensioner allowing the cam chain to jump a tooth. Does any one else run the athena big bore, hot rods stroker and hot cam stage one set up. Has any one experienced this issue before? I have roughly 40 hours tops on the motor since complete rebuild. Everything was flawless and great!! Thanks to everyone whom reads this post and or replies to it.
