But what you need to do is remove the old adjuster screw , spring ,washer, and O-Ring , it will be in that order , so you must find all parts , usually the new screw will come with new parts , if not you will need to re-use your old ones , make absolutely sure the old o-ring is intact when removed , if it has to be re-used , make sure its in perfect condition , if not replace it if its hardened , or misshapen
When installing , i like to lightly coat the O-Ring with waterproof grease , to keep it supple , you install the spring , then washer , then O-Ring onto the screw (o-ring last/closest to the tip) and insert into carb , screw it in "gently" till it just seats , do not tighten it down , as soon as it touches , STOP , then adjust out accordingly , start at 1-1/4 turns out , and go from there , set your idle at the lowest it will go , then turn the screw 1/4 turn out , and rev the bike with a quick throttle snap , if the bike dies or pops/backfires thru the muffler , then go out another 1/4 , keep doing this till it stops popping , now turn the screw in till the idle changes , then go out till it changes , in between those 2 settings is about where you want to be , (counting turns as you go)the screw should be somewhere in between 1-1/4 to 2-3/4 when you are done
You may have to adjust the screw slightly about every 2000-4000 ft in elevation (not always , but dramatic elevation changes require a adjustment) , or if temps change a lot (winter riding to summer heat riding)
