Linkage Question - Returning bike to original link from Koub

    by 1kayaker » Sun Feb 21, 2016 12:21 pm

So I bought a Lowering Link when my son starting on my 250x and now I want to return the bike to the original height. The original link had all these cylindrical shaped bearings in the main bearing itself. I lost a few of these during the switch. Is there a place I can order just these pin bearings? or do I need to get the entire new replacement part?

If you mean the needle bearings , then yes you need to replace the entire bearing , if even 1 needle in that bearing is missing it will cause issues ,not limited to , but including , linkage binding , and obviously premature bearing failure

As far as i have even known , there is not individual needles available for sale by anyone , since you would want needles that are all machined and worn/matched the same , each manufacturer will have its own tolerance levels , therefor , there is no guarantee that a replacement needle would actually work , so its just better/safer in the long run to replace the bearing as a unit (or just get a complete linkage bearing kit and replace all 4 of them , so you don't have to worry about it down the road)

Remember if the linkage binds even just a little , it will affect how the suspension works and alter the effects of the clicker settings , sometimes to the point of being unsafe to ride
