    250R Exhaust on 250X - Year Question

    by reustle » Fri Nov 21, 2014 5:56 am

I have read a few places on this site that the R exhaust will fit on the X (and it is obviously recommended to jet up a bit and open the airbox). My question is, how different are they across years? I have a 2007 250X and am looking at full 2014 250R exhaust, as well as a full 2008 system.

Are there any clearance issues with the R pipe on the X, or will it fit right up? Thanks!

You might want to Private Message (PM) , Ken , the owner of this site , , he works on the bikes a lot (he sells the parts as well as does repair on them) , so he would most likely know first hand , what fits what year as he works with those parts directly for all years of 250X by either selling them or installing them in his shop , i know on the 450X , only 2005 450R exhaust is a direct bolt on , , but i dont know on the 250X what years interchange , like i said , if anyone around here does , it would be him

Just look for the user name to the right that says crfsonly in any forum (like this one) http://www.crfsonly.com/forum/index.php , and click on the (red) name , it will take you to his user page , then you can click on the PM below his name and ask him , he will reply as soon as he has a free minute , and should be able to give you the info you need

All model years of the CRF250X's use the same muffler and ONLY the 04-05 CRF250R mufflers will fit. The 06-09 CRF250R's used the twin pipe and the 10-15 CRF250R's are a completely different chassis necessitating an entirely different exhaust system.

    Hope this helps.

    Ah, thanks Ken

So I guess there is no easy way to get the twin pipes on the 250X then :)

no "easy" way. besides muffler, mid-pipe, and header issues you'd also have air box and side panel issues to overcome.

Hi ken do you think that i can use just the header from a 05 250r on my 09 250x Without any problems?

At the time I wrote this we had only test fit the muffler not the header. So, I can not confirm nor deny fitment of the header in question.
