    Carb drain screw

Here's an interesting one... My buddy and I both own '06 250x. (Mine is faster of course) :)

Anyway, after a ride, he showed me how to dump the gas in the carb via a small drain screw at the bottom of the bowl that drained the fuel thru a hose to the bottom of the bike. Sweet! (I had always had to use a 17mm wrench and drain the gas all over the lower end of the bike).

When we went over to do mine, we found that mine had the indent where a screw should have been, but was not there. In fact, there was never a screw there at all - the place where it should have been was filled in from the factory.

What is even more interesting is it still had a drain hose connected to it.

    Any ideas???

Your's either is an early 2006 ( still using 2005 parts) or somebody has installed a 2005 carb when you weren't looking.

Yea , the difference is on certain years , same goes for the 450X and 250/450R's , I put a 06 450X bowl on my 02 450R just for that reason , the drain screw takes away all the mess of the 17mm bottom drain

But yea the 250R or X that has the drain screw bowl will work for your 05 , and will bolt right up , the only other differences for the years would be specific jetting for either the model , or the specific year , as jetting changed continually for the X and R for different years , but the main body/slide/bowl are all the same (again with the exception of that drain screw , which I believe the only reason for eliminating it would be for production cost savings , unless it has some kind of EPA implementation reasoning)
