I am curious to see how many 250X owners would like to upgrade to a 450X. Perhaps a 250X is not enough power for you.

I had considered a 450x until I rode one,too much power,wore me out.And it seemed alot heavier.

There is a youngster from a family at work I'm enjoying giving riding lessons to every now and then, who is convinced he's ready for more power... but you just know by watching someone if there at that point yet, and the advice I gave him is the same I go by for myself (pretty simple really):
Right now I couldn't imagine doing anything constructive (towards building better, more-honed riding skills) with the power of a 450. Looking back, it seems each time I've tinkered with the 250X (different pump cover, different pipe, Hotcam) it has yeilded a little more power each time... and yet probably still not close to as much as a 450. ANd I have had to become re-aquainted with the power difference each time.
Kind of leads me to say that until I become flat out bored on the 250, or seem to have such a good control over it that I am no longer challenged, I'd have to say I'd stick with the 250 for quite some time yet... mainly since I can't imagine becoming bored with it, or becoming the next "R.C." anytime soon.

Plus it's probably one of the greatest weekend-warrior bikes ever made. Such a fun bike to ride.

From what I have heard it's a piggy to maneuver in the bush but great for gravel roads

not quite accurate ..... ......the 450 x is heavier but I can probably , no let me change that I can go anywhere you can go and 80 mph on a dirt bike is just a plain gas to ride the gravel roads . 1st gear will do very technical trails and you won't believe the grunt the big thumper has hills are no contest for the 450 you don't have to get your motor running so to speak to tackle the hill just turn on the gas and tractor power takes over and up you go !
get into some wide open spaces and most assuredly the 450 does like to stretch it's legs , and man can she run ,the suspension soaks up hard stuff at speed superbly !The 450 in my opinion is the ultimate woods bike , she has got bottom grunt and at speed you think someone replaced your 4 stroke with a two stroke . she's really really fast .
oh yeah the valves aint an issue on the 450 like they are with the 250's , time will tell all though .
If you can't afford back tires quite often you won't like the 450 because she is a TIRE EATER (rear only)
The 756 dunlop dies a quick death on the 450 . lots of tire spin.
The 450 is sweet best of both worlds !

why do you consider the 450 an upgrade of the 250?

neither one is 'better' than the other

better suited for certain terrain, yes
but since more means not necessairily better ...
