    by ChosenOne » Sat Feb 10, 2007 9:15 am

:D Hello, I'm a newbee but had some questions?? I started some quick mods on my 250x one was the pink wire. I destroyed the clip getting the pink wire out....Ahhhh!! but I hope someone could suggest where I could find or buy a new clip. Also I pulled the spark arrestor out and I'm going to open the air box up a bit. I don't want to pull the bike apart to open up the airbox, can i open it enough with out a major dis assembly? last question do I or will I need to jet now that I have done these basic mods?? :?

Welcome to CRF's! You're on the right track. You'll want to do a number of things simultaneously. Open the airbox, re-jet with the JD jetting kit (available here on CRFs), for ease of maintenance I would recommend switching to the Twin Air Powerflow kit with flame resistant filter (air filter), napalm filter screw. While you're re-jetting it would be a great time to add the CRFs fuel screw (makes adjustment way easier). There is a wealth of info on this site, it has a great search feature and even greater people who are always willing to help.

    Welcome to the insanity! :)

Just wanted to share that there isn't any reason to pull the spark arrestor. You can remove just the baffle. It is reached by removing the Torx screw on the bottom of the end of the exhaust. There are several ways to modify the baffles to get better breathing without removing them completely. Sound can be a real issue and you have to be respectful of that where you ride.

Wakebuddy had everything right as well.

You can open the airbox fairly easily with it still mounted. There is a "how to" : http://crfsonly.com/howto/450x/airbox/c ... airbox.php

It is for the 450X, but they are essentially the same. The JD kit also comes with some instructions.
