White Bros. SS headpipe with E2?

    by Monkeywrench » Wed Feb 07, 2007 6:10 pm

    Guys,
has anyone tried or heard of someone using the E2 muffler with the matching head-pipe from White Bros? Any evidence to support it makes stronger power than the stock head pipe? I have never really understood the relationship between power and head-pipe, from the 'bomb' thingy in the FMF headers, to the goofy ram shape of 2-stroke pipes. Why do people change head pipes?

Was going back and fourth on which improvement I'd like to make, and was thinking of trying the White Bros. head pipe, but not sure if it would make any improvement over the stock header?

So,yet another "hmmm" from me this week I guess.
    Again I say, "hmmmmmm..." :-k

Thanks guys for your advice. -matt

Well i changed the head pipe from stock to a FMF power bomb and i can tell you that i did notice a nice bottom and middle band power change. It also quited my e2 which is not a bad thing with the quiet rules for pipes. It moves the air in a different manner keeps it cooler and produces more power. I cant tell you how the whites brothers would work but i have a the E2 with this FMF.

Thanks Xrider -- was also curious if the E2 would fit up with other headers but I forgot to write that in.

i'm not going to pretend to be all knowing about how header design can affect power. i know that diameter, length, and bend does have an affect on flow and hence power. often the trade off is moving power up the power band or moving power down the power band. the fmf header attempts to break this generalize rule of thumb with its "powerbomb".

one of the reasons you see more exhaust manufacturers going after the 4-stroke market versus the 2-stroke market (back in the day) is because the physics involved in 4-strokes exhausts are not nearly as complicated.

back to your question, the WB head pipe will give you increased performance over the stock but likely not as much as the fmf. the WB head pipe is very similar to the stock pipe.

    good luck...ken

Ken thanks. I was studying the shape of each of them - not that you can tell a lot from pictures, but they do look real similar. I think I going to give the FMF a try.

Hey, different question: does changing a header also mean rejetting, or is it not as drastic a move as changing from the stock muffler was?

if your jetting is spot on and all you do is add the header you'll likely be okay with the jetting.

Hey monkey u might also consider a megabomb.
I have been told by my friends that they fit as well.
Even though they r not listed anywhere as being for the 250x. They said that they had to rerout a brake cable or something like that.

    Hmm... i'll look into that.
Maybe the cable they reroute is the cluth cable? That rings a bell, I think I remember reading something like that once.
    thanks.
