    final mod questions

    by revs » Tue Feb 06, 2007 3:36 am

    Hi there
I know ive asked some questions before but im putting an order thru to crfs and I want to make sure I get everthing in 1 order as it has to be sent to ireland

So here goes (04 crf250x stock) main aim is to get rid of bog

Im going to order the jd jetting kit (does this include the o ring for ac pump mod or do I order it seperatley )
Crfs fuel screw (or is there a better one ?)
Id also like to open up the airbox and remove the backfire screen when doing this, can I just put on a twin air filter that is non flamable or do I need to order the twin air kit including cage (not really able to afford it at the moment of over a hundred bucks)so would like the cheaper solution and just use different airfilter

Im trying to keep expenses down but im concerned that doing these mods wil increase my maintaince costs –i.e piston –rings-valves nee, will they need replacing more often ?

Thanks again for all your help and I think I have the info to get started –my mechanics said he has never heard of these mods –but if I give him the info he will do it for me –im quite good with my hands and do most repairs myself(bearings –chains sprockect etc but im a little scared of messing around with the carb as iv never gone there before –will I leave it to him or learn as I go along?

The O-Rings (there are two different sizes)both come in the JD Kit.

Excellent, there is no better fuel screw.

You can just remove the backfire screen from the stock cage and use it with the Twin Air that is flame retardant. That is what I do.

This shouldn't adversely affect longevity. In fact, I would think just the converse. It will probably increase the longevity as the bike will be richer and thus run cooler.

No worries!!! You will love the way the bike runs with the mods. like buying a new bike!

Let us know how it all works out. If your mechanic has any questions, have him get on the site.

    Just throw my $.02 in.
Get the 42 pilot jet for your bike and if you PM me your address, I'll send you a set of stainless carb screws you can replace while everything is off the bike. (I've never mailed anything to Ireland before :o )
