    Another Rekluse question

    by Cliff » Sun Feb 04, 2007 7:36 am

My mechanic used a small 'jumper cable' to allow the bike to start without pulling in the clutch. Isn't there a way to accomplish this without using a jumper cable?
    Thanks

Oh, the jumper cable actually shorted to the handlebar, caused a spark, and now my electric start does not work anymore. Is there a fuse that I may have blown? If so, where is the darn thing?

    Thanks

you could always get the perch adjuster which would allow you to use the stock perch and clutch giving you back the clutch switch. or you can install a bar mounted switch.

There is a fuse in the starter relay holder under the right side panel.

    Hi Ken
I have the perch adjuster, but I do not see anywhere on it where you can use it to 'close' the starter switch circuit to allow me to use the electric clutch.

    Hi Matt,
I found it, but the fuse was good. My battery is good (tested with voltmeter), my battery connections are clean, my kill switch is NOT bad, but I cannot get the engine to turn over using the electric starter (the bypass electrical switch is jumped to complete/close the circuit).

    Ahh, this stinks!!

i guess i don't understand why your mechanic would put a jumper so you don't have to pull in the clutch. i assumed that this was because you didn't have the perch adjuster so you removed the clutch perch.
