The AP cover forms a reservoir for the AP to squirt fuel into the engine. The Boyesen has larger channels so that the reservoir refills faster than stock.
When pumping the throttle like a two stroke, the stock cover can actually run out of fuel on successive throttle twists. This can cause the engine to stumble or bog.
If you don't pump the throttle like a two stroke, you probably wouldn't notice the benefits of the Boyesen cover.
