    Radiator overflow bottle?

    by wezza-mx » Mon Jan 29, 2007 12:44 pm

I am looking to lighting up my 06 250x, is it possible to remove the overflow bottle without interfering with the coolant system? where can i find the link to the pink wire mod also? I am going to do the airbox mod, and try re-jetting.

I removed mine and just ran the overflow tube down the back of the motor with the rest of the vent tubes.
Check this link out for pink wire and other 250X specific mods

If you end up removing it, just remember to check the coolant level every time you ride.

good question. just picked up a 06 250 X and have a question about the overflow coolant tank. Just to make sure we are talking about the same thing it is the clear plastic tank by the back tire right? if so what exactly does it do?

its like how a car has a reserve tank. when the coolant gets hot and overflows, instead of spilling out of the bike the the tubes to the ground, it puts it in that reserve bottle, when the bike cools down and the fluid contracts, instead of sucking in air to replace the lost coolant, it will suck in coolant from that bottle. Thats why it is important to check coolant levels if you dont have it because if you overflowed then you will be low cause it is sucking back in air, not coolant.

    My question is this?
Why remove it? How will removing the coolant resevior tank enhance performance? The tank weighs next to nothing right and serves an important function on the trail.

Just a question in case I am missing something...
