Steering Stem Lower Tapered Roller Bearing Part Number

    by Serp » Sun Jan 28, 2007 5:13 pm

Anyone happen to have the common (non-honda) part number for the lower tapered roller bearing and race for the steering stem?

    Thanks.

If its any help the micro fish says its the same as the top one. Sometimes the fish will give the common number but not this time. The micro fish is on line at yamahaoftroy.com.

FYI - Needed to buy OEM

The bearing has a "common" NTN number right on it but I couldn't get an aftermarket bearing. There is a really good bearing place I have been dealing with for a long time that couldn't get one for me (B.C. Bearing). They said the NTN number is unique to the manufacturer so I would have to go OEM. I've ordered the bearing and both seals from Honda.

The lower bearing is hard to take off and needs to be pressed or cut off.

You will find with a lot of genuine bearings are actually slightly different dimensions to the generic bearing.

    Same number, same manufacturer.
The CR80 stem bearing is a classic example where the generic bearing is 25mm I.D. and the Honda one is 26mm I.D.

You can get a non-factory bearing now, but it is a lower load rating.

Yeah be careful getting that bearing off. Its a pain in the @SS. Why not just order the pivot works kit? It will come with both bearings, races and seals.
