    rear wheel

    by revs » Fri Jan 26, 2007 5:15 am

hi there ,i tried this in another section but no replies
here is hoping someone can help ?

I've had to tighten the spokes on the rear wheel after every time i go out. A few now have to be replaced and I see on 1 or 2 they have made the hole on the rim a little bigger. Will I need to replace the rim? Will I be able to repair with new spokes or will I send it out to get wheel rebuilt?. ive heard this is an issue with the 04 model ?

On my 250R this hasn't been a problem. But on my brothers 150R they come loose very quick even being tightened before each ride. And we took it over to get it checked out and the put a little washer in with ruber rings to prevent the vibrations and the spokes don't seem to loosen up as quick as before. so now we have had it done to both of his wheels and no complaints

If they holes are getting bigger because of loose spokes, you should replace the rim. You don't want a bunch of them to pull through off a jump or something. It is very important to check the spokes frequently. This isn't going to be very cheap, but I guess you will check them more often from here on in! Good luck!

Super important to have a wheel perfectly 'true' during operation. If you are finding spokes coming loose you should have the wheel trued up. If all the spokes are in perfect alignment/torque etc. there should be no reason for any of them to come loose. If you tighten one up by itself, there will be an equal and opposite reaction to another corresponding spoke, thus, perpetuating the problem.
