STD clutch and Rekluse questions ??

    by lumpdog » Tue Jan 16, 2007 1:01 pm

My 05 CRF has an X engine in it - no leccy start .

With the rekluse one of the benifits is said that you can start the bike in gear .
So should my bike currently be able to be kick started whilst in gear with the clutch in ? ( i dont currently have a Rekluse clutch ).

When you have a rekluse clutch installed can you still use the clutch lever as normal , i know that question defeats the purpose of installing the rekluse but if say by accident i pulled the clutch lever in whilst the rekluse was either ingaging or disingaging could i damage it ?

Does any one have any idea why it is very hard to select nutrel whilst the engine is running . I did a 3 hour H+H race last sunday and found that i was having to use my hand on the gear lever to select nutrel .

    Many thanks

I have a 250X with the rekluse and it all works pretty much the same. Squeeze the clutch, hit the starter. But in your case, no e-start?

Should still work the same, just kick instead.

I have since got to the LH Brake and eliminated the std. clutch lever all together and now have just the 2 finger clutch above it. I also dis-abled the safety mech, so it will start any time, any gear...no matter.

FYI: Get the rekluse, you will be very pleased and they are VERY nice to work with! If you install install it or have it installed, be sure to set it up on the TIGHT side of tollerances, so that you can retain most (if not all) of your engine braking, otherwise it may disengage as you decel sometimes.

    Hope this helps,

    ST

Will your bike kick whilst in gear ?? Thanks for the help , just to clarify so you know what im banging on about i use the bike for hare and hound racing , similar to what you have in the US called hare scrambles . Its an R with a X engine , better gear ratio`s and more mellow power :D

I didnt realise that the rear brake kit keeps a smaller clutch lever above it , so do you still have a hot-start on the same perch aswell then :?:

I was slightly concernd about the engine braking thing , whilst doing a race recently is was relying on 1st gear engine braking down a very slippery hill as the brakes were as good as useless , if you braked , you were off :!:

Having said that i was riding some very tight woodlands sections , constantly up and down the box between 1st and 2nd, playing with the clutch and thought to myself how usefull the rekluse would be as i could leave the bike in second and the power would have been much smoother off tickover . In 1st it kept tending to make the rear wheel break away .
