hello guys,
its been a while since i have posted somethin...just normally been reading these things.
well, before i let you know what is goin on with my bike (normaly) i am sad to say that i will be selling the 250. the bike had GREAT performance, but just too much money to keep it running.
well, before i sell the bike i am going to make sure it is perfect with no worries of any problems in the near future for the next owner. a while ago i had both intake valves replaced and valve seats cut, because the right intake valve had mushroomed. after about 100 miles i had to adjust both valves, which seems normal since they probably were seating, just a slight adjust. then after about 200 miles the right intake valve mushroomed AGAIN. i was quite upset that it only lasted 300 miles, because i only ride for recreation, nothing hard. so i had JUST the right intake valve replaced and seat cut. i put the bike back together and did a little break in time around my neighborhood (neighbors are nice people). i was expecting the right intake to move a bit because of seating, but when i checked my valves i saw that the right didn't move a bit and that the LEFT moved .002 inches. i adjusted it to spec and just kind of said "whatever, maybe its normal and will stay". then i took the bike for a 3 day ride with the family. after i got back i had checked the valves again, and BOTH had moved .001 inches.
i know that the right valve will be fine because its new. but i am wondering about this left intake, it moved just a little after it was new, then quite a bit after replacing the right one, and then just slightly after an even longer 3 day ride. it like sped up then slowed down. i havn't seen this kind of movement before, and i am not going to keep riding this bike, so i am wondering what any of you think. do you think its a ticking time bomb and should be replaced before it goes, or is it just settling itself in, which is odd after a few hundred miles, or maybe its not that odd...i dunno.
thank you very much in advance for your replies.
Tim
