    what would you do?

    by Ravage » Tue Jan 02, 2007 4:24 pm

Today i started on the linkage rebuild. I got the U shapped one all torn apart and cleaned and everything was looking great, shiny needles, lots of grease. Then i started the the second peice that has the three pivit points. The first one(lower shock bearing) i open the dust seals and the whole thing is seized from rust. O crap i have to get a new one. I do the next two and the left side of them were fine. lots of grease and came out clean but the right side have very little grease and were a PITA to get out of the race.I did my best to clean them upbut, now i dont know if i should re-use them or throw them away and get a pivot works linkage bearing kit. What would you do?

See left sides are fine, right not so good

Ken, i really appreciate the offer but its just too expensive to get it across the border for me. You have been so good to me in the past, calling to make sure i was getting the right parts. You run a perfect business as far as im concerned. If i lived in the states i would get everything from you!

For as much work as it is to get that apart, it doesn't seem to make sense to put them back, in my younger days, I would have done it in a heartbeat! Thank goodness I have grown up. Looking at yours, I think I might pull mine apart and clean them up. I like spending money on my bike, but I would rather it be on upgrades than on replacing something I could have prevented! Usually winter is full of snow here in WI, but it has been so warm lately (50), I am thinking about going for a ride! Good luck with the replacing of those parts!

no worries aaron...i understand. i wish USPS would get their act together...i would have no problem using them if they we could do the postage online AND have pickup. they are close but you can't do the insurance online and they won't pick it up if it's an international package. we monitor USPS changes regularly so if that ever does change so will we.

    good luck with the rebuild.
