Hello guys this is one topic i cant seem to find much info on. I'm 6' and have a stock 06 CRF250x and after rotating the clamps and rolling the bars forward i still feel too tall for the bike. I do allot of woods riding in the tight stuff so standing is very important. As of now my arms are fully extended and i feel unbalanced. Anyone else have this problem and what did you do do fix it. I've seen some posts about footpegs and triple clamps but they are not very informative. Any help here would be appreciated.

Alot of us have switched to a taller bar.
You can also get taller barclamps, some of us run steering dampers and those clamp set ups tend to raise the bars about 25mm (1 inch).
The tallest bars I know of are the ProTaper Pastrana FMX bars. I believe they raise an additional 3/4" over stock.
There are alot of footpeg options and most can be mounted at stock height or in a "lowboy" postion. 1/2" to 3/4" lower than stock.

Thanks ~ what do you think would be the height i would need? Im afraid of exploring here it can get expensive. When im standing my arms are straight out and my back and knees are slightly bent.

Joe,
It looks like we are about the same height - 6'.
I ended up adding IMS ProSeries foot pegs and a BRP SUB mount with a Scotts dampner and then went with the ProTaper Windham MX bends. The bike is now much more comfortable to ride than it was in stock form.
I do a majority of my riding standing as i tend to ride in tight woods.

The Windham bend that Z refers to is the closest to the stock Renthal 971's. Putting that on the BRP sub mount will give you a 25mm(1") rise over stock. If you change pegs as well and run them lowboy, you can pick up another 1/2"-3/4".
I am 6' as well, I ended up going with the Protaper Pastrana FMX bend which adds another 3/4" rise on top of that. But I haven't changed pegs (yet).

Hey ~. At 6' do you find the SUB mount and the Pastrana FMX bars too much rise when seated? Is it still comfortable? Are you going to go to a lower bend when you get the lowboy footpegs or do you figure you need all the room. I bumped my bar rise up 1" and was thinking of getting some lowboy pegs and calling it a day, but I see a lot of guys running the Pastrana FMX bend with the SUB mount and wonder if this is overkill or I'll just enjoy the added room when standing. I'm 6'2" and spend most my time in tight woods. Thanks for the insight.

I don't find they are too tall at all. When standing they are still too short, but sitting they are perfect. Keep my elbows where they should be.
At 6'2" they'll probably be good if not too short for you as well.

AS - I measured my bar height w/ the stock 971's and the Windham bend after installation of the BRP SUB mount. In addition to the height gained by the SUB mount the bar change did give me about a height increase. I think it was a little over 1/2" (I'll need to go out to the garage later and check). Might be due to the tube diameter increase.
I thought that going with the Pastrana FMX bend would be too much for me. I will say that I am very comfortable on the bike now ... and like i said earlier I spend most of my time standing while i ride.

Thanks for the info guys. Looks like I'm going to try the Pastrana FMX bars with the SUB mount and invest in some lowboy pegs soon. Looking forward to the added leg room and more of the bike to grip when standing.
