    by Ryan B » Thu Dec 28, 2006 4:00 pm

I would like to know what people recommend as the first adjustments / modifications to make on a stock 250x.

Open up your airbox, rejet the carb with the JD jetting kit, put in a CRF'sOnly fuel screw, and change the pilot to a 42 (see I told you).

Then get onto protection. Skid plate, radiator guards, master cylinder and rear caliper guards, case saver, handguards.

Be sure to remove that backfire screen as part of your project. Get a fire retardant filter to replace the stocker.

My sig below has my jetting info. We have the same bike but you might run it at a higher altitude than I do. If so, maybe 4th clip position from top on the needle.

TwinAir makes a good flame resistant air filter.

You could also add some bling. Like the CRFsOnly Sharkfin rear disk guard.

    What they said....
and when you get the JD jetting kit, follow JD's recommendations precisely. I think I'm on the 4th position with the clip (what ever JD suggested for my mods) I live in the same general area you do and it worked great for me...... and that 42 pilot jet thing: Do that too. Also block off or dump the smog crap.

How much money do you want to spend??? You gotta do what's already been suggested first but if you still want/need to do more, then I would highly recommend a rekluse z-start clutch, and a Scotts Steering Stabilizer, most guys that have them, say that they will never ride a bike without them again. Congrats on your new ride and welcome to CRF's!
