    Help with MSR fuel screw

    by Toobie » Mon Dec 18, 2006 6:31 am

Made several attempts to put in the MSR fuel screw and could not get it to thread up into carb. Put back in the stock and it went right in. Anyone else had issues with this fuel screw? (It's the round red one with numbers 1-4 on it).

Also, the black wire (looks like a ground of some sort)that runs underneath the fuel screw is really in the way. Has anyone tried bending the mount at it's point of attachment to make more room?

I use the CRF's Only fuel screw and it threads up easily. The "T" posts on it allow you to adjust with one finger.

hmm.. if it doesn't thread up properly, I would probably return it or toss it. I also use the CRFsOnly fuel screw and had zero issues with it.

Hey, I believe that's the one with the extra o-ring near the numbered knob to help hold it in place. Could be your not pushing it in hard enough, while screwing it in due to the extra resistance of the o-ring.
Try removing both o-rings, spring and washer, and try it again. If it don't screw, she ain't no good.

It didn't come with a spring, washer, or O-ring. I used the stock ones. Still didn't fit. I'm going to return it and buy a CRF's only one.

    Thanks for your help.

The CRF fuel screw product description says:

"This is a CRF's Only exclusive product. Designed by CRF's Only and manufactured by Kouba, this fuel screw is .22" shorter than other fuel screws on the market. If you have large hands this T-handle fuel screw will give you more room between the end of the screw and the starter on CRF X models. This makes fuel screw adjustments quick and easy. Made of brass and expertly machined by Kouba. Fits all FCR carbs."

The CRF250X comes with a Keihin carb. What is a FCR carb? But, I assume the CRF screw will fit.

The Keihin that the 250X comes with is a Keihin FCR. The FCR denotes that it is a Flat slide Carburator-Racing.
