If you just want to do it on your own do this:

Change the needle to the 4th clip.(stock 2nd clip)

Change the main jet to a 158.(stock 130)

Change the pilot jet to a 42.(stock 40)

Open fuel screw to 2 turns from all in.

Makes the bike run way better, start easier and makes a bunch more power

do you mean by this that this can be done with out opening up the airbox etc -just out of curiosty

No. His previous post was "I am just going to open up the air box take the flametrap out and fit twin air filter. "

That makes things way too lean. The suggestions were with his mods in mind.

Check around. The place that you would not expect to have it, will have it. Good luck.

I bought my jets at the Yama dealership b/c Honda was out of the jets I needed, esp the 42 pilot. Keihin carbs all use the same jets.

For those of you all doing your jetting on your own (like I did), Agent is right on and helped me with mine. I opened up my airbox 3"X4" (area below rubber boot), put in 155 main, 42 pilot, needle in 4th pos, 2 turns on the fuel screw, and it now starts great and runs great!

Yeah, KTMs run the Keihin carbs also....I got mine at the local KTM dealer since out of the three honda dealers within 30 miles not a one had a 42 pilot!

Also, make sure you get the right pilot jet. The first one I got was too small and would not fit.

All I can say is less is definitely more.

Laughed soo much at my buddys trying to keep up in the wet and muddy woods here in the UK on there 450's .

I think i'm going to like this bike

I think you need to teach your buddys to ride if they are having a hard time keeping up with you on a 450. :D

In the woods the 450's have too much power where we ride its very tight and the mud is like chocolate moose and very polished roots add to the problem

Ok just got back in from the garage and all the mods are done except the o ring ap mod I just couldn't face taking the carb off yet

    Just 1 small Q
when taking the flame trap out and replacing it with the twin air filter do you just use the plastic cage to mount it on or rip the metal gauze off the metal part of the flame trap and use that as well

    hope that makes sense

its just that my filter does not seem to fit as well as the stock filter

I have a 450X but they are virtually the same. When removing the backfire screen, you just stick it away for later , if ever. Use you stock plastic cage to mount the filter. Use filter grease around the lip (I recommend using the NoToil family of products. They are good and NoToil filter "oil" isn't flammable). If you are attempting to use the old wing nut screw, it will take a little patience.

After seating your filter and before placing the screw in it, you can get your hand in there and give it a little rotation. you will feel when it is in the right place. Insert the screw and tighten it down. A Napalm brand filter screw makes it a lot easier to mount.

    Exactly what Joe said.

In addition, if you haven't removed the backfire screen, it is accomplished by simply bending the small metal tabs back from the plastic filter cage. The backfire screen will pop out, mesh and metal border in one piece.

Use only the white plastic cage to mount the new filter.
