hi all,
I have a line on a reasonable 230M, but I was kinda looking for a 230L. I do love Supermotos though so I'll probably go for it.
Question is - if it ends up being my "dirtbike", what do I need to know about putting a different set of wheels on - larger front obviously. Is it easily doable? Will I need to change the brakes? Are the wheels available?
Also I'm interested in general comments about how the M performs in the dirt with the stock wheels and knobby tires. Maybe I don't need another set of wheels. Honestly I probably won't do much if any super technical dirt riding - mostly just fairly easy trails and some smaller bumps. Will I destroy the front wheel or brake disc? Is the more street fork rake an issue? I have almost no experience on dirt, which is why I want this small, light bike - to learn on.

And sorry for the late reply , I am surprised the Ray did not chime in already , he is the resident 230 expert , he must have been on a walkabout when you posted ... Hopefully if you still need the info , you can post again and he sees this post , I really would have thought he would have seen this post , as he is always in the 230 forum ...

Well I have been shed sorting and the wife says some bikes should go, especially those with bent forks.

Anyways don't really know much about the M.

I would have thought SM suspension would be firmer for the bitumen so maybe a little harsh on dirt.

Finding dirt tyres for 17 " rims might be harder to source but I know some adventure riders run a dual sport tyres on their 17" rims.
I think it will probably be difficult like the L model in ability to swap rims.

Suggest you look at the yeltrik site and compare hub part numbers to the F model. That and axles etc, as this may give you an idea what is common between models and may swap over.

The front has same travel as the F but the rear only has 6.6" compared to Fs 9" , so tyre diameter would be a limiting factor.
