Engine starts cuts out shifting into gear

    by elliotgillispie » Fri Mar 31, 2017 2:57 am

I have an '08 CRF230L with 3900 miles. I rode a few miles around my home and parked it. I went to restart it 5 minutes later, and I pulled the clutch in and it cut out as soon as I shifted into gear (any gear). :-k

I tried again the next morning with the same results. Last night, I started it up and there were no problems. O:)

Has anybody experienced a similar issue? I've only put 100 miles on the bike and have had no other problems.

I do have the Clymer's manual but have not found anything relevant yet . . .

New topic . . . has anybody geared their bikes more for trail riding? I'm thinking of changing the front sprocket in order to create more low speed torque. On trails, it would be unusual to exceed 40 mph. I have registered by to make it street legal, but I would be fine never taking it over 50 mph. Any suggestions on front sprocket size?

    Thanks,
    E

I do not know if the 230 has a kick stand safety switch - but that is exactly what it sounds like is going on. Worth a look.
