You'll have a hard time finding someone to argue against your point of view.
I would add that we should bomb them back to the stone age, but they are already there...

Just how do we mount an offensive when our troops are total defensive these days ?

Take control away from NATO.
Call it what it is. It is a joint US, UK, Canadian and Australian effort. Put them in the lead and stop taking orders from the Hague.
