new to all of this supermoto motard stuff
so, what i see is smaller wheel diameters, street tires and braking systems to deal with the greater speeds/revolutions. there's probably some shorter chains and smaller sprockets too.
what if i just want to set up my 250x to pound pavement, no racing. what type of highway speeds am i looking at? what do i need to do to the drivetrain to deal with the low gearing?
hey, good to be here again...!

welcome back jimbo!
so, are you going to stay with the stock wheels or move to 17" wheels? there's a site call gearing commander that will help you with the final drive gearing for the speeds you want to hit and cruise at.

nice video...your gear is sooo new and shiny, you need to come back and get punished!
too bad i was out of the loop at that time, you scratched the surface, now i can take you deep into the Moab experience!
BTW, going for 17" setup. but all that is on hold because i just blew my wad on this:

well, sorta on hold
this guy has a wheelset from an XR650r. could i get them to fit a CRF with just a change in spacers, or would they be 'bolt on'. he's offering a fork brace and a brake relocation braket too but i'm thinking that stuff wont work on the CRF front end.

I can't speak to the CRF250X as a motard but I have a WR250X motard and it is great fun. The fastest I have seen it go is about 80 - 85 mph. It won't really go any faster than that but thats OK because they are not really much fun at that speed. I find motards extremely twitchy at high speeds.
Being an ex-roadracer I know NOTHING about dirtbikes so I can't help you with the gearing other than to suggest you gear it for acceleration and a reasonable top speed or a comfortable cruising speed .... not that you will really do much of that.
