stm motard slipper clutch spring rates?

    by abmjl » Sun Jan 17, 2010 1:03 pm

hi Ken,i bought a stm slipper cluthch for 450r 04 motard off you a couple of years ago # 0F3OR230B1100MX n am very happy with. ive have somehow broken the secondary spring rated 50kg #0F3SR540B140006. thing bout replacing it with a 40kg spring now. wots your thoughts?
judging by the clutch part # i think the springs mite be rated for MX use, do you know wot the SM spring rates are for these cluthchs? the primary spring i have is 160kg.
    thanks
    Jason.

Going to a lower rated secondary spring would only lower the amount of engine braking.

It shouldn't affect acceleration as that's the primary springs role.

Are you sure that you've got a 50kg in there?? The 85mm that you describe is rated at 40kg...

Running a 40kg will just reduce the engine braking characteristics of the clutch. The replacements run about $ 62.00.

They have them all flavors for fine tuning from 30kg to 80kg.

I don't know if Ken stocks them, but he should be able to get them for you. Blast him an e-mail to ken at crfsonly dot com and he'll hook you up.
