Moving from a CRF100f to a CR85 is a dramatic difference! If you haven't ridden one, they are fast and easily double of your 100 has. Truly, it's how confident you would feel on it. Try an 85 out before you make the plunge. It's a totally different animal.

I moved my son from a CRF 100 to a 150r (small wheel). Plenty of power and suspension for the next couple of years (I hope).

KX65 to CR85 to CRF150R in 15 months, now looking at conversion to RB by May (12 months after the 150R).

I think moving up to either a crf150r (small wheel) or crf150rb (big wheel) would be the smartest choice. Thats what I did, i went from a 100f to a 150rb and now on a 250r all within about 3 years.

my son had a cr80r and that bike ripped but the throttle control was nearly an on-off switch. while he learned to ride the cr80r well it had a steep learning curve. the crf150r, which my daughter has, is a far easier bike to ride. power rolls on much more predictable and controllable. if you can swing it the crf150r or crf150rb is a better choice in my opinion.
