Crf250r hard starting about 20 kicks

    by SimonCrf250r » Sat Dec 05, 2009 2:09 pm

Not long had my crf250r and it has started to get really hard to start, from cold it takes a good 20 kicks with the idle turned up and the choke on. I have replaced the spark plug and this has a great spark, i have replaced the air filter (twin air) but its still not got much easier. when the bikes hot it usually starts within about 5 kits often needs the choke though. Does anyone know what could be the problem or how to solve it ? Any advice is appreciated greatly. Thanks Simon

    sounds like valves,
shim them back to spec or buy new valves and you won't have to worry about adjusting them back to spec

Also forgot to mention that the front pipe gets really hot and glows red when the bike is started from cold but this then disappears after about 5 minutes

    ha im 16 too,
i rebuilt my crf250r top end(piston, valves, ect) and do all the maintaince. i probably over do it
im not a qualified mechanic but i just get advice and follow the manual,

    im currently lacing new rims

also here's a "how to" adjust valves on the 250x but its the same as the 250r

Doing the valves is not very hard, it only takes about an hour.
