    nedirtbikr's first (EVER) MX race...

    by nedirtbikr » Wed Jul 29, 2009 6:33 am

    Ran Vet C.

Was holding 2nd (of five riders) in the first moto until I went down in a sand whoop section. Finished 4th in the second moto. Of course, it would've been nice to place, but I'm pretty stoked about my first MX experience and look forward to more.

Track was built over a Friday night for the Saturday races. Was small, had four whoop sections, a couple rhythm sections, a finish line small double, and a roller-ish/whoop-ish straight away. The races were part of the attractions at a county fair. Organizers did a great job considering all that had to be done and there were 22 classes.

    Thanks for the props guys.

The guy on the vid making the "...oh he went down" statement is funnier than hell. He's around my age, but racing in the Beginners class. He's TOTALLY hooked and wanted me to have a good experience so I would be too.

Am I hooked? YEP! Will i do extensive travelling and purchasing of toys/toy haulers? NOPE. T he pocketbook just ain't that deep.

We have a series that runs between four tracks around here (all within about two hours.) I'll continue to practice and may try to run the whole series next year. Right now, I have plans for maybe two or three more races this year. The Vet C class is perfect for me and I plan on sticking with that one for a while. I also have a couple enduros I'm hoping to run this fall.

Bike has been running fantastic! Props to ~ on the head/valve work. Haven't even had to shim.
