Neelix shot this video of a recent ride in the Pine Nut Mountains of Northern Nevada. I was not on this ride, but thought you all might enjoy it.......

Hi Guys, I am from up north and looking for somewhere to go riding this winter. Do you get snow in the Pine Nut Mountains? Can we ride there all winter?

    Tks

Yup, we get snow here. I actually rode last week and we did get into some snow, some ice, and some mud. But on other sections it was dusty  Go figure!

Right now the snow is only in the higher portions of the Pine Nuts and we are not expecting snow in the near future and is supposed to be around 60 degrees (F) today. So to answer your question, yes we get snow, but it is hit or miss..........

    Hope this helps!

We are thinking of comming down for the last week of Feb. Any chance we won't be able to ride? or the available terrain will be greatly reduce?

Boy, there is one thing about this area, you just never know! I've only been riding here a little over a year, but lived here over 5 years and I've seen it covered with snow, even in the valley, for months on end, then again, years like this you can ride in January!
What it will be like in February is any body's guess? You can always head this way and if it turns bad, then continue down to Southern Nevada, about a day's drive, or even Arizona, about a day and a half's drive.
Sorry I can't give you a better forecast, but the weather here in the Winter can be very fickle.
On another note, I'm pretty sure there are other areas to ride to the East that have a better chance of being snow-free, but I've not ventured out to those areas yet. Maybe someone else knows?
