    CRF250X VholdR test ride

    by smitty250x » Thu Sep 04, 2008 8:50 pm

Hey guys, I picked up a new VholdR helmet cam for my trip to Hatfield-McCoy the 5th, 6th & 7th.
The video quality is better when played locally on a computer.

I will try to upload vids if i can find a wifi connect. User name on VholdR.com is smitty450X.

I will be on the 450 for WV trip. buddies brother will be on my 250X.

At about 4:21 you can see some wild turkeys.

After I tried to replay the video from the hatfield-Mccoy trip the video froze up. I looked on the vholdr website and it seems the issue I am having is a known warranty issue. I will contact them soon. So I will give them the opportunity to get me another unit.

As far as the usability, it is easy as can be.

Once you get it mounted where you want and aligned with the lasers. Slide the record switch and ride. They include desktop software for you to use for downloading from the camera as well as uploading to the VholdR website and to email to friends.

I have a Vio helmetcam used with a Archos AV500 and the VholdR is way easier to use. No wires is the way to go.

Ken has them right here at CRF's Only for the lowest price I have seen on the Net.

Got a Return authorization number today from VholdR. they are going to replace my camera.

We will see if the technical glitches go away.

    Yes. Keep the info coming.

After I get some pictures of it, I'm going to put my current Twenty20 lipstick cam up for sale. The camera has been fantastic and I love it. Just looking to go cable-less myself and trying to offset the cost of the new camera.

Very interested in future reports on the product. thanks!

Well, I got a new camera back from VholdR.

I went to test it out and turned it on and rode for 30-40 min. When I got back home I found that nothing recorded. I have been messing with a little to try and figure it out, (if i screwed up) I am getting frustrated with it... will try to again this coming weekend if I can get out to ride. When it works its great, when it doesn't..

    OK a mini update..

I gave up on the VholdR.

I am sending it back for a credit to the place of purchase toward a VIO POV.1.

It is military grade and I feel better about it working well out of the box.

Another trip to Hatfield McCoy is being planned for the 31st. Hope I can get it in time for the trip and get some footage.

This is just my personal experience with the VholdR. If you have a positive one and you are happy with it fantastic. I think if I received a good working VholdR I could have been happy with it, but that wasn't the case... Hopefully some posts with some good Vids are in the near future.

Wow! Bummer! Glad I saw this before buying. I guess I'll have to give it a little more time and find more reviews.

Thanks for taking the time to let us know how things were going with it.
