A friend of mine is pretty good with his helmet cam. Take a look at the video from Metcalf Cycle park in San Jose CA... A very fun track and the park rangers keep it very well maintained. Let me know what you think.

I'll let him know that you think he should at least change the plastic to red - it can only make him faster.. Actually after a few laps w/camera he said to go 10% slower.. then again.. 10% slower after the next few laps.. his story was it would allow him to stay at a consistent distance from me... Nice vid! I think you had the perfect mix of music and bike sounds. I not particularly a fan of the Peppers (which is believe that was the music?) but liked it nonetheless.

Nice to see some action shots where the music doesn't detract from the shots. As said above, just a nice blend. I prefer to hear the motor as well.

That blue fender was highly distracting though...

That's a pretty dirty trick!

You guys should shoot some more videos and post them if you have time, fun to watch and check out other tracks and bikes.

I'm lost though..dont know anything about helm cams....do we gotta throw a camcorder in a back-pack or such or what ? It says all it needs is a power-source...well for the noob..thats pretty vague..

Any reccomendations ? i figured @$300.00 it had some kind of data card storing it. I could just see me w/a $500.00+ camera/camcorder in a back-pack and i crash....

The Jones cam needs a recording device. That $249 price is the helmet cam kit. You still need something to record to. But this is the first one I really like and thanks Mikeyo for the link. If you search the Jonescam site, you'll see they offer an entire package ready-to-rock for $1100. I'm not into that price, so I'll be finding another way to record...

Yeah, it's just for the camera, you then need a capture device (video camera is the norm).. Most people put the video cam in a front pouch rather than backpack but the key is clearly not to crash (with or without the camera ) - I hope this helps. I agree it's risky especially when you paid a fortune for your video camera but as the lead rider, I was only going maybe 75% of my normal speed so almost no chance of falling...

Boy..i wish i could ride @75% and not worry about a crash.... i guess i'll ride @5% w/a vid corder..
Can a Vid corder w/the ol' small cassestte work ? Or will the quality suck..? Can u use a palm-pilot if it has a sd card ? Or something similar..
